On 'Lookaround', Helen Ford ended the bulletin from the newsroom with a simple "Join us tommorow evening at 6pm when we unveil a brand new look".

I refer to it as 'ITV1'. If anything i think the majority say Tyne Tees or ITV1! But this is a discussion we had many months ago!! Although I actually do think if ITV kept the channel as ITV 1 in 2033 'ITV1' would have been as common as BBC1 or Sky1 is!

I used 'ITV1' to avoid confusion... A confusion that some would say never existed; everyone else I know has used 'ITV'...

I sort of understand the reversion in that respect, but either way, it's not going to make the on-screen identity any stronger.

Except it's not a reversion. The channel was never known as ITV, other than as a network (with subsidiary names for the regions).

They changed the name of the channel to ITV1 to reflect the fact that their company had "more than one channel" in their promos at the time. Has that changed? Has it got more/less channels?

If people didn't accept ITV1 because of a preference for their former regional names, then they are not going to accept a numeral-free ITV any more easily.

I understand why they may want a new logo: but to try to tinker with the channel name after 12 years is illogical, unless they are going to call each region by its name once again.
