I might have to pay Classics a visit on Monday. It was always a bit grim, but I suppose it needs a send-off!
harrumph. Not only did it close on Friday, but when I tried to take a photo through the door, a manager appeared from nowhere to tell me off because photography in the building isn't allowed without a permit from JCI.

Oh no! The catering site on Gateway definitely said it was closing on Christmas Eve though this was back when Costa and the Green Tea Bar closed in October so they must have changed it! Sorry!

Is The Killing Station officially dead?

Having had another look at the intranet, it says "Normal lunch service on 21 December. Classics will close permanently from Monday 24 December" - which is a bit vague, but I guess means that it's no longer open from the 24th.

It lives! It's closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day but open again from Thursday.

Some of this weeks click is coming from Broadcasting House, in the intro there was a very brief shot of part studio E.

Just watched it earlier on the 1130 Sat morning run, looks very swish. Does anyone know the timescales for World fully moving in to NBH, presumably mid to late Jan? Is domestic news moving end of March?

Presumably Click will now be filmed in HD although we may not see it overnights on BBC One HD until domestic News moves out of TVC and in to a full HD environment in NBH as I guess overnight output is still going through TVC's News Galleries which are SD.

Straight to the point, what happens in 10-15years (random guess) when another revamp is due?

How do you keep such a big broadcasting hub upto date & modern while still running day to day everyday, hour, all year round?

Will TV Centre be able to supply a studio? Will the Millbank studios have to be revamped next in order to cover for the Broadcasting House in these events?

Provided they only update one studio at a time, then they could always move the programmes from that one into the VR studio (Studio A) during the upgrade.

It's not s much the studios but rather the newsroom technology which I think will be the issue. 1997-ish they moved into their current newsroom in TVC and by 2004/2005 they were talking about its replacement. Reckon we'll be back to this same discussion in 2018? And the problem is, there's not really much they can do about it. That's the rate at which technology is changing.

Also, as posted in the BBC World News thread (but I thought it was probably more appropriate here because it's not just WN related) these are some of the latest dates:

January 14th – BBC World News go live
Late January – Overnight TV service goes live
March – Main TV Bulletins – 1, 6 , 10
Mid March – News Channel

Interesting that overnights won't move in straight away. I wonder if they'll come from N8 or N6. I'm also surprised the 1, 6 and 10 will move in before the News Channel. I assumed they'd all go in at once, or at least the 1 would move with the News Channel as it's produced by them. I wonder if the plan batted around for the 5 and 9 to come from N8 thus freeing-up the rented TC7 will come into play after World move out.

TC7 is used for the SIX and is "on hire" until the end of March with a 3 month extension option. The biggest problem is staffing. Keeping TC7 whilst balancing the other TVC studios plus the live programmes from NBH PLUS the training of staff on new equipment makes any further changes extremely unlikely.

I see. So really the cost of TC7 for the extra time is worth it to avoid unnecessary moving about. And if all goes to plan, they won't need the extension time anyway.

Is the money the that BBC News are paying for TC7 not just going back into the BBC?
