hmm is it because BBC WORLD will be rolling out a new studio, enhanced coverage and in parts new schedule? BTW the 19th is one of the dates set for the move right? I smell pressure. Plus Newsday from world is doing well.

I saw that but (I think) he seemed to imply that it was only actually transmitting to viewers in Japan?

I already heard that in Japan they have CNNI in HD, until now it was just upscaled SD but I guess from today it will be real full HD for them.

I don't know if we'll see any impact on our feed.

Isn't it CNN domestic that is available in HD there?

My mistake, the case I mentioned was in Philippines. In Japan they have CNN US but maybe now CNNI will replace it.

Also, does this mean that SD feed will finally go widescreen?

Actually it won't be Coren. CNN Newsroom will be presented by Andrew Stevens and Patricia Wu, a former market reporter. She did a few weeks of WR in Hong Kong while Pauline Chue was on maternity leave.

It's great CNN seems to be returning to dual anchored programs, it's been long overdue. The bad news is, people in Europe won't get to see a lot of CNN Newsroom, apparently only on late Sundays. Weekdays we'll still have replays of Amanpour and Morgan's show. How terrible.

Andrew got a nice send off on WBT today, they even had Charles and Ali on phone. Pauline Chue will replace him as WBT presenter, it's not known what will happen with Anna Coren. My gues is she'll become a full time correspondent, something she always wanted.

Just read that Monita Rajpal has just arrived in Hong Kong as she has moved there.

She will be hosting NewsCentre with Monita Rajpal and Talk Asia.

Sounds like big changes at CNN Hong Kong. But whats happening to Anna Coren, doesn't she host Talk Asia??

Was surprised to read that news, Pete. However, I've always rated Monita as a good anchor. Maybe just what they need in HK. People moving around from time to time keeps it fresh. However, I wonder what's the deal with your namesake???? Meaning Pedro Pinto. Isn't he Mr. Monita Rajpal?

Anna Coren is going back to reporting, but I imagine she will be a cover anchor for Newsroom from Hong Kong, News Centre and News Stream.
