I think N5 used to do the original BBC World Service Asia channel. It also used to do a BBC World / World Service simulcast programme (World Have Your Say I think) back around 2003/4. AFAIK it was tiny.

Wasn't N5 the home to the Original BBC Arabic back in 1994.

Although BBC Arabic recently launched in its current form in 2008, it actually existed for a while in the mid-1990s. It launched in 1994 and I think it only lasted a year or so on air before it was closed. What DTV is saying is that the original 1990s version of BBC Arabic was housed in N5 at TVC. The modern version broadcasts from Broadcasting House or New Broadcasting House, or whatever it's called.

That's the one. It used the then current branding (idents, graphics, music) of the BBC World Service Television, which itself was based on the BBC News branding of that time.

Yep - N5 was used by the original BBC World Service Arabic TV channel. It was originally just a studio, with a gallery housed elsewhere in the building. It was mothballed (indeed I believe it was locked up at one point whilst ownership of equipment was 'discussed' when the service closed suddenly) and then re-commissioned in the early 00s as an 'interactive' studio. This configuration housed the gallery in the same space as the studio, reducing the studio floor area to make room for a small, and if I'm honest, pretty nasty, gallery in the same space.

World Have Your Say (or was it Talking Point) used to come from there, along with occasional other interactive programmes. At least one Hardtalk was also recorded there (albeit using PSC cameras not the studio facilities)

N1 and N2 are now TC10 and TC11.

Sadly 'were' TC10 and TC11.

These studios have now been decommissioned, the equipment removed (even the lighting pantos), and the studio floor area is now used for storage. Wonder where Strictly It Takes Two will come from this year...
