Definitely Titanic orientated tonight. Firstly, the regional pictures have been replaced by Titanic related pictures in the opening titles of South Today. No iPlayer clips unfortunately.
Also, BBC South opted out of A Question of Sport this afternoon and replaced it with a regional documentary. Yes you heard me right. A documentary about the impact of the Titanic sinking on the port of Southampton, where a lot of the crew was from. It was truly excellent and was presented well by Bernard Hill (Captain Smith in 1997 movie Titanic). More info at the programmes page here
So although BBC South didn't have the same budget as BBC Northern Ireland, who also made a good effort - see this thread on the TV Home forum, it was nice to see a region put this effort in. Nice to see more practices like this.
