Ew. That set is just nasty. The naff lighting on those back walls is inherently bad, never mind when in a grim burnt orange. The backdrop of a departure lounge in the world's most dull airport terminal building is just weird, and the perspective/scale goes totally to sh*t in anything other than the two-presenter shot, except even then you're incredibly aware that you're looking at two people sitting in front of a telly. While the old Barco walls were hardly convincing, they were at least a little more robust to this. The only plus side I suppose is that it's all rather bright, but then that's probably a side-effect of having the lighting rig hovering ominously over the talent's face.

It's not perfect, but it's much better than what went before. I always thought the previous look was dull and dreary and an awkward size.

The main shot of both the presenters is a bit too tight and could be better, but other than that, from what I've seen this set is much sharper and brighter.

Mike, there is nothing wrong with North West Tonight. Yes the shots are a bit close but it's not like it's a bad regional production or anything. It seems to me you're just upset over the fact they didn't move to the Midlands and moved to the North West.

Indeed, and Breakfast would look more than cramped coming from Midlands Today's set!

I think the set looks quite good. Nice and bright. They just need to zoom out on those close-up shots, which is something that needs to happen on NWT too. As said, the titles are a bit disappointing, but it was what I expected. Shame we didn't get some new music.

I see they brought the business desk with them on the move!

Why is the lighting grid flooded in orange of all colours? It only draws attention to the fact its so low as to be a joke.

The issue with that, though, the way I see it, is that it looks out of place, compared to the rest of the set. The rest of the set is lit up with bright oranges, and then you have this dark red podium, which they sit at, rather than stand at, now. It looked particularly awkward sitting at the podium.

I think it looked alright. It matches the sofa.

And sitting looks much less awkward than the standing interviews they used to do.

There's also a behind the scenes video on the Breakfast website.

No one has answered the question asked a few times ever since the plan to move to Salford was announced, how are the NWT opt outs handled ?

As usual using a smaller pres gallery from the SQ DTL studio!

Given the DTL studio is in the corner of the newsroom (as I understand it) it does mean there's a fair amount of background noise now the whole Breakfast team is in the building - which you could hear on the North West opt.

Unless the noise has always been there, but I've not noticed it before.

It's still a national news programme.

Not the case, I'd not set them up in the Shoebox, it's just Midlands Today can still offer a single shot that doesn't feel like the viewer's being supplicated nor does it leave the co presenter in the awkward ellstree triangle situation, that's what I was getting at.

I'm sure NWT is a good programme, but that tight, locked on camera shot is truly ugly.

I quite like the warm orange lighting i must admit. The London set always felt very cold to me. Appropriate for normal news programming, but i always felt the breakfast programme itself should have been a bit warmer. I think they've got the right feel in this new studio.

As for the set itself, it all looks nice and fresh, but it still seems quite cramped vertically, and just like North West Tonight, the closeup on the presenters is a bit too close.

Like some other people have said, it feels more like an (admittedly well made) regional studio. Not that such things should matter really.

I must admit to being glad to be rid of the BARCO screens though. The gaps between them and the colours on each screen not matching others would mildly irritate me Smile

Does anyone have any HD Stills of the graphics, or HD Video?
