I seem to remember on one of these news threads that there is an offical name for the triangle of looking CAMERA - DESK - CO-PRESENTER when not speaking but in shot?
The Elstree Triangle - famous on Newsroom South East for years.
It's not brilliant, and I'm not entirely sure if it's better than what was before, but it's a start. Despite Martin doing a better titles mock, the new titles are still an improvement. In terms of the studio, generally, it looks quite nice, although with a bit too much orange lighting. The backdrop is actually quite nice on-screen, which isn't what I was expecting. Business Breakfast looks particularly nice, although I think the graphics on the screen during the TOTH could have gently animated.
The let-down really is the lighting grid. If it was higher, then it wouldn't be as cramped, and would look quite a bit nicer. Also, it's sad to see no single presenter shots.
I'm just going to end up repeating what everyone else has said, but here's my thoughts anyway.
I feel underwhelmed by the titles really. The endboard is much nicer, but the rest is just one 'scene' as it were, and it's basically orange with some dots for a few seconds... they could have done more.
The studio looks so much brighter and the lightboxes break it up a bit more which is nice. But they do need to have a wider shot of Bill & Susanna because it does feel far too intimate.
I don't mind seeing the lights, we always can in the London studios anyway, and maybe part of the fancy camera work in TC7 was to prepare viewers to see more behind the scenes shots?

It would be great if they could go down the virtual route like BBC Arabic, but probably unlikely now.
In the gallery photo on the monitor underneath Cam 1 - you can see Charlie and Louise sat in London on the old set while Bill and Suzannah are rehearsing in Salford.
Surprisinly I actually like the set and the background on screen. Although someone on here said it animated with changing clouds... Can't spot anything (except the one monitor over by the business presenter) which is a shame.
You'll only really notice the clouds moving if you hit the fast forward button on a recording of it.
I have to say, the studio looks amazing in HD. The colours are so vivid and everything so crisp. The plasmas really show themselves to be really good and the backdrop really very sharp.
It's the studio shots and also all of the sports clips (since BBC Sport are in same building and in HD as well) that are in HD at the moment I think. Everything else is upscaled.
I think its pretty good tbh, the whole look seems much sharper, brighter and more welcoming than before, and you don't really notice the bizarre empty room in the backdrop. Just needs a few tweaks:
- titles need a little more polish, a few amateur looking graphics in them
- default camera on presenters is a bit too close at the minute, need to be zoomed out
- what happened to the updated graphics? I'm guessing they are waiting for the move to BH but are needed as Gill is really looking dated now.
Apart from that though a good programme and the subtle changes really have given it a much needed update.
Give them a few days and I think the new team will be more than capable to iron out some initial mistakes. Definitely needs more credit than is given at the moment here on the forum and particularly on Twitter though. Just look and watch Daybreak for an extended period before you compare Breakfast to it.
Is Newsround HD now too? I remember reading that it was when they moved to Salford, but it isn't labelled as such on the EPG. The whole "first daily BBC News programme in HD" thing made me wonder.
