It's official - Executive Producer Bryan Kirkwood is to stand down from his position next month, according to Digital Spy. Series Producer Lorraine Newman will temporarily act as boss until a permanent replacement is found.

Thank God. The show needs refreshing badly in my opinion. Not just a new EP, but a whole new production team.

I wouldn't say it's been anywhere near as bad as that mid-noughties period, but recently it's been quite unfocussed. The extent to which we've been expected to care about the Moon brothers and who they are or aren't going out with has been a bit ridiculous. But then every so often you get lovely little episodes like last week when the Masoods finally accepted Christian. So it's a bit all over the place.

Yes I would agree with that. It's lacking direction. I agree with you about that episode, it was fantastic and proved EastEnders can still produce great episodes. The Masoods have to be one of my favourite TV families.

The actress who plays Whitney has been thrown out of a supermarket for smearing herself in yoghurt, allegedly.

Peach Melba, apparently.

Definitely not a dream you were having?

Quote:
EastEnders stars Shona McGarty and Matt Lapinskas were apparently thrown out of a supermarket for having a food fight.

The soap stars - who play Albert Square's Whitney Dean and Tony Moon and have been dating off-screen since last September - were shopping together in Asda in Watford when they got carried away messing about with some yoghurt and were confronted by security guards, The Sun reports.

An Asda spokeswoman confirmed the incident, telling the newspaper: "This isn't us being Albert squares. As with any customer found to be causing a ruckus in our stores, we politely asked the culprits to leave so they didn't offend other shoppers."

A fellow shopper told The Sun she had reported the incident to staff.

She said: "It was disgusting. The man was opening up pots and looked as if he was throwing it around. Then the girl started to smear it over herself in a suggestive manner.

"I had my kids aged 10 and nine with me and they certainly don't need to see that in the shopping aisles of Asda."

An EastEnders spokeswoman declined to comment.

I'd forgotten about this clip until I stumbled upon it again - it's from over a year ago but it's exactly as broadcast. Or am I just hearing things?

Warning: sounds like norty language, but isn't.

Good I have found myself not to bothered if I miss EastEnders at the moment as it has gone very poor the last few months, not a patch on when Diederick Santer was running the show.

So pleased Kirkwood is leaving, he should have gone sooner than this if you ask me. I won't miss him one bit. Feel sorry for the next EP who has to clean up all of his mess. Hope the new EP axes the Moon brothers, Derek and Kat and Alfie.

Just have to say that this week's episodes of EastEnders have been outstanding, particularly Tues, Weds and tonight's episodes. Best set of episodes in years.

Ironic really considering last week I was saying it's the most dire it's ever been!

Exactly what I was thinking - even Monday's was a letdown, with Heather's bumping off being... can't think of the word for the life of me - random, shoe-horned.

But Tuesday's had much more interesting directing than Easties has had for months (that slow shot tracking in on the door as it got kicked down sticks with me) and a cracking performance from him who plays Jay.

Thank you for those photographs. It is good to see that he actually will carry the torch on television rather than him just going to get the torch at the start of an episode and then coming back with a broken leg and an eye hanging out at the end as normally happens.

I expect there will be continuity errors galore once we see photos of real people carrying the real torch though.

"As normally happens"? How often has the Olympic torch come up in the show?

Perhaps my exclusive is more humdrum than I expected. Crying or Very sad
