Watching the 6.30 tonight, the format is very similar to the Sky era mid-morning bulletin with Kate Gerbeau which had guests on and the original Five News at 7 with Isla Traquair.

Early days obviously, but based on first impressions, who thinks ITN are actually doing a better job than Sky?

I do. The programme feels much sharper.

Ah I miss the 11.30 late morning bulletin, during school holidays I would watch it and hope when I finished school and went to college I would have time to watch it, then it was cancelled! Mad

I always thought Polly Whitehouse was a Sky News employee, I guess not.

I don't think I ever have seen Polly on Sky News, although the channel did use some C5 employee's packages on their channel.

It seems under this contract, all the staff on the bulletins are employed by Channel 5/Northern & Shell where as Sky's Philippa Hall would present the lunchtime and they'd also cover late evening heads and weekends.

I agree. the programme feels much slicker. Some of the items in the Sky version of the programme felt quite patronising as well. The Polly updates seem to be live now too.

she occasionally read headlines during Dermot Murnaghan's Sunday show
she probably just transferred via TUPE, like the rest of the team.

They generally always have been on weekdays, pre-recorded at the weekend. For the last week on Sky the updates were all pre-recorded I think as they wound down the service.

How many updates are there 2 or 3?

Normally two, one at 7.55 and another shorter update at around 8.58. However if C5 are showing a movie at 9 then they slot in a third at around 9.55.

There is sometimes one around 11pm if there is a 10pm movie (as happenned on Monday). And they may occur a random times at weekends during movies
