A late schedule change tonight, swapping HIGNFY for Britain for Above and A Little Later, because the scheduled episode of HIGNFY, simulcast on BBC2, has been swapped for one from last series, which presumably wasn't shot in HD.

They've got other HD episodes they could have repeated, so I'm not sure why they didn't save themselves the bother. But mostly I just want to know why the scheduled episode got bumped!

Because there was no HIGNFY on BBC 1 on Friday, instead a new series of My Family, except it wasn't, it was an ep from 2010 !

Series 10 was split into two parts, so it was a new episode.

I assume it was a scheduling error on BBC HD.

Rather a strange schedule tonight (and for the last few nights) at closedown .....

It's basically the BBC HD Preview, but I couldn't tell you what SUT stands for.

I don't think we're supposed to see it in the published schedules.

I caught that "SUT" transmission last night.

Even though it said it was a preview in the EPG they actually ran a highlights reel of World Cup 2010 with a grey rectangle in the top right corner...

You can tell BBC HD is in full HD, just look at the nets on the Wimbledon pitch, its just that bit sharper on BBC HD then BBC One HD.

Yesterday morning, BBC HD did a sneaky test with live 3D pictures from Wimbledon.

YouTube now supports 3D in a variety of ways, and I'm not sure what way it'll default on your computer - but you can use the 3D button at the bottom right of the video to switch between modes. I've uploaded the video as it was broadcast - with the left and right eye pictures side-by-side, but YouTube can display this in a mode that's viewable with red/green glasses, or interleaved or side-by-side, if you've got a fancy monitor. (you can view all the settings here

The first few seconds are 2D pictures from the preview loop, so will look a little odd - then it crashes into live pictures from each of the camera positions. There are some graphics later on, then a sync test, and eventually it crashes back to the 3D part of the preview loop.

Enjoy! (I don't have any 3D glasses handy, so I'd be interested to know if it works, or if YouTube has mangled it slightly.)

I'm decidedly sceptical about 3D in general. It's a bit better on the band at the end, but for the Wimbledon long shosts in particular there seems to be hardly any 3D effect. Getting lens flare in one eye only is a bit of a distraction, too.

My eyes hurt Shocked

I still have the Channel 4 3D week glasses, at 4:52 the 3D-ness is very prominent. But on the court, its very errm...yeah eye hurts.

Isn't that the wrong 3D technology?

EDIT: No, it isn't.

Google "Stage Electrics", and look for your nearest branch - call them and ask for a Lee Filter swatchbook to be posted out (they're free).

I've e-mailed their Newcastle office(They have an office in Edinburgh, but no e-mail). A gentleman there called Andy Murray (no joke BTW) replied saying a set would be sent out. Will I be able to view in 3D therefore on my 2009 Toshiba laptop? If so, I can't wait to see what it's like!
