Mishal Husein doing the 10 tonight - it's been a long while since she's been doing any BBC bulletins!

As I thought - about time she came back. I hope she takes the lead presenter role sometime this week. she's always shoved to the side as secondary presenter. The only exception was when she presented with Sue Thearle a few months back.

Mishal was also down in the Middle East, as well as Indonesia, where she hosted the BBC World Debate recently, from Jakarta, part of the BBC's Asia Business Season as well.

As such, she has also been absent from BBC World News/Impact for a few weeks too, although back yesterday.

There was an interview with Matt Baker on the NC earlier about Blue Peter moving to Salford - was very nice to see Chris Rogers, an ex-Newsround presenter discussing and reminiscing about Blue Peter with him and Chris was discussing how he had to join them in the Blue Peter studio on the odd occasion.

So what bets are we taking on what happens to the 6 and Regional News this evening. Andy Murray likely to be in full flow so I don't imagine they'll move that.

I understand the regions have been told they could have 4 minutes, they could have 28. And it could be on 1 or 2. But surely they won't put them out on 2... will they!?! Confused

I remember being in the TC7 gallery last year when Andy Murray was playing at Wimbledon and up until 5mins before the 6 was due to go out, the gallery/BBC News controllers didn't know if they were going out on BBC1 or 2 as its out of their hands and down to network. They ended up being pushed over to BBC2.

It was funny watching the regions trying to find out what was happening, and calling London for info!

The same will probably happen this year, my reconning - the 6 will go out on BBC2.

Why is this is the presenters/rotas thread?

One suggestion is to switch to a single presenter during the week to cut costs. I think one of the things I like about the channel is the chemistry between the two presenters. The thought of not seeing Simon & Carrie together or Jon & Emily is not a good one.

I think that's actually a good idea. Maybe having just one presenter would make the channel a bit more serious and authoritative. Some of the 'banter' exhibited by BBC News presenters over the years has been cringe-worthy to say the least. For that reason I always find weekends more watchable as they've traditionally had solo presenters for much of the day.
