Tim filed a report from Athens for BBC World last night.

Madeleine Morris on newsreading duty today on World. Still can't get used to her. Yesterday, the old partnership of Martine Dennis and Tanya Beckett reunited for The World Today. It was just like the old days. Great partnership.

I saw Tanya Beckett too - I notice that her 10 mins are always packed with business news, and in this case, there weren't even headlines - and unlike most of them she actually spends a good minute or so actually going through the markets.

Still begs the question, why do we need a separate presenter for the evening bulletins on Saturdays and Sundays, so far we've had recently, Ben Brown, Matthew Amroliwala, Tim Willcox, Clive Myrie and Simon McCoy, the BBC used to play the line that the reason that they changed presenters for the BBC1 bullys at the weekends (evenings) was for a 'familiar face' to BBC1 viewers to present the bulletin. Thing is if you didn't watch the BBC News channel; you wouldn't know who the above mentioned were, so a waste of time. Especially as its often a repeat of whats just been shown on the NC. So leave the Duty news channel presenter on air, it saves money, it stops wasting time, disjointing the flow of the NC and makes more sense, especially as sometimes the BBC1 bullys are only 15mins!! Theres often more consistency with whose presenting on the NC of a Saturday and Sunday night than who is presenting the weekend evening bulletins on BBC1.

I suspect (and hope) that Julia Somerville will be standing in for the week - it's been over 3 months since she's been on air.

Didn't Peter Sissons use to do the NC bulletins & the simulcasts as well, on his Saturday shift?

How will you get known on BBC One if you don't present the bulletins?

Even NC regulars like Annita McVeigh were known as reporters on the BBC One bulletins prior to the N24 launch, so the reason about needing a 'BBC One face' doesn't ring true.

(There's a question you ought to ask Snoddy, Worzel, seeing you 'have his ear' so to speak, along with the one about why the NC has to fit in with BBC One at the weekend, when it should be the other way round! )

Occasionally, but I don't think it was ever a regular thing
