It does not rule out one later in the year.

The last two (or maybe 3) have been done jointly so why not this time? I guess it will make it all the more strange when they do a joint broadcast (like the did at Christmas and just a couple of weeks ago with the election) that they will be using and old set......that said of course they will now do the joint show from Edinburgh. I really do not think they give two hoots about the North (other than scoop up the advertising revenue)....shame on them!

Hang on, if the last two (or maybe 3) set refreshes have been done jointly, the how can you legitimately claim this is "yet another" example of STV showing a lack of regard to the north audience?

I (honestly) appreciate your frustration about the closure of the studios and central bias of STV, but in this instance, aren't you condemning them unfairly?

Well not at all. They have given up on the North.......when they first split the politics shows were produced in Aberdeen along with documentaries and other shows that could quite easily be shown all over Scotland. The BBC are quite rightly sharing out the goods across the nation to avoid London bias surely stv could do the same? Why no opt for the Highlands (despite being promised) and why no re-launch along with the rest of the country?

I don't know the reason for the last part, but one has to assume that any expansion of services would have to be commercially viable - they are a commercial station, after all.

But its worth saying that they are now in a stronger financial position than at any time in the last few years, and whilst it might not be apparent in your part of their broadcast footprint, they're doing more now than ITV can say (and even the BBC) in terms of local provision. Far more.

Perhaps an email to Bobby Hain would be in order? He's very helpful, and you never know what they have in the pipeline for the next year or so.

The Reason why it was all moved to central belt was because that is where Holyrood is plus most MPS are still in the central belt on a Thursday evening

More information here, about east opt:

Maybe the reason there not don't the north yet is because there created two new shows for the central belt.

I bet Aberdeen gets a revamp soon, hopeful when there sort out the mess with SKY.

I have a feeling, STV will wait until the end of the six month trial for the Edinburgh programme - then, if it is unsuccessful, they will give the set to the Aberdeen programme. If it is successful, Aberdeen will get a new set. Just a theory, though...

EDIT: Looking at the promo for the new East show, I'm not too impressed by the set. Hopefully Glasgow's will look better, as it would be a step down to what we have just now.

Well just as you "bet" they will sort out the mess with Sky I bet they won't! The situation here is they don't care. The opts have been going for years now and all this should have been sorted out ages ago (it was in west and east) and further bias here with the launch of the new service for the central belt. I doubt North will get any investment any time soon.....poor show by them!

You could stay on for the Western opt, since you'll just have finished The Hour anyway. You could be the next Shereen!
