Now we have some new Countdown mixes on BBC World, with various film of the recent Egypt and Libya crises interspersed into the old countdowns. (Images of John Simpson, Lyse Doucet and Jon Leyne, mainly.) It doesn't look too bad, although still has that "hastily done" feel to it.

Edit: correction, not Jon Leyne, but Ian Pannell. Additionally, the now-famous Jeremy Bowen interview of Gadaffi is also shown in the new countdown.

Happened to catch Naga this morning also! And like everyone else, was rather impressed by her! I do wonder why they haven't branded that slot...what with segments being all the rage on World now, it's surprising they haven't come up with a brand for it since TWT apparently dissapeared...surely European Breakfast would be suitable..??

There is one key thing about the old 'TWT' slot that bothers me greatly and that's the constant mistakes but mainly that they don't ever script a goodbye so day after day they fall of air stumbling over each others words and not knowing whether to say stay with us or goodbye. Martine is great at this and recognises that UK viewers are leaving although others aren't and say things like "we're back at the top of the hour". Can't the programme editors write a decent goodbye and leave enough time for it to be read, rather like all other news programmes. They need to get slicker IMHO. Put Naga and Komla on together and rename it 'The World Today'.

Cross Channel,

Just reading Jonathan Charles' Twitter page a few moments ago, and it's quite nice to see that he himself still watches the programme and still refers to it as TWT! Other than your goodself, it appears the re-naming of the bulletin as TWT even has the great JC's support!

Naga today (unusual for a Friday) along with Sara Coburn, and despite the presence of the rather neat and tidy latter, the bulletin close was another badly timed disaster. Almost crashed out. And Naga called Sara "Sally", into the bargain.

What's so difficult about tidily ending a broadcast???

Edit: and now we have Sport Today presented by someone astoned as "Admanda Davies".

Yep, I saw that too. Still, there not getting closes in to the 5 o'clock hour! Komla and Sally is one to watch - there's usually a good 3 seconds of silence whilst she starts to read the main news and he looks at her as if to say what are you doing?!!!

Seen that, it is just awful - I really don't understand why whomever is in charge of outputting that programme doesn't recognise that a decent scripted and timed goodbye is so desperately needed. Surely day after day of bumbling and stumbling programme closes is enough for even the most useless or inexperienced programme editor to notice that something needs to be addressed.

I tried to watch the 1400GMT bulletin but I didn't last long. Karin Giannone and the other blond woman I don't know just looked ridiculous -it's the right word- reading one short sentence each in that virtual studio which I seriously think is the ugliest I've ever seen -including North Korean TV.

It's Sue Thearle, one of the BBC's sport presenters. And N6 is not a virtual studio - it's a real set in a real studio.

Is world still simulcasting with the news channel as Ben Brown in Tobruk gave a time check in his headlines?

Currently showing the Doha Debates, so, no, not for the whole 1500 hour.

Is it real? But what about the image of newsroom behind? that's clearly fake
