Radio 4 - This whole situation is very odd. I mean, shurly there has to be spare studio capacity 'around the corner' in Western House, or even at Yealding House - but decamping to Worcestershire for three weeks?
Radio 3 Con is going to Western I believe. I suspect if there was spare capacity at Western 6 Music would have two studios rather than hot seating.
My suspicion is that they're using Wood Norton because some other quite important bits of Broadcasting House are going to be going there. It's no secret that key parts of the distribution systems are duplicated at another location, which is secret. Presumably while BH is out of commission this back up will be in use. I don't know where it is, but if I were to take an educated guess...
Strange that they're not using the studio at TV Centre which the early shift continuity announcer/Today newsreader uses to open up the station.

The other consideration presumably in this is that the BBC doesn't want to be using all of it's spare radio capacity in Central London incase any building suffers a power failure (Radio 1 did last year) and they have no capacity at all to accommodate this.

Good point, also knowing the potential for the digital desks to crash requiring the on-air programme to move to another studio, making sure there is a spare studio (or a studio that can quickly be emptied) is quite important.
GE
apparently they get a fair bit of use during the day for prep, rehearsals and pre-records for WATO, PM and the like. Perhaps the news people are too stubborn to budge, or the announcers couldn't resist the charms of the Evesham Hotel?
I've heard mutterings about an OB truck parked outside Bush House...
As in BBC London's original home? The lease with the BBC ended, I seem to recall. Not sure what its being used for now, though.
When I went past it the other week, it looked like it was getting a bit of a refurb - probably not unusual after a tenant has moved out following a long-term lease.

Where are BBC London and the Arabic and Persian services going? I presume N9 will feature for one of the TV services.
Is Marylebone High Street still available?

From Broadcasting House? Sometime in 2012/2013 I believe. The three months of services testing are for basic things like power, aircon integration etc.
The technical fit-out for all the radio and TV studios, newsroom production systems, comms etc. will then start to take place in 2011 - and that will take a LOT of time given the size of the project. Then you have to test all those systems installed, pilot and train people in the new systems (as I'm sure they will take opportunities to use new systems when they relocate)

But no news on when BBC News will start broadcasting from there?

Last time I went past it there were signs up for offices to rent and it was totally empty. I did hear years ago that part of the reason why the BBC were leaving MHS was because the DeWalden estate (who own all the buildings in the area) wanted to redevelop it (more likely just the 1950/60's buildings round the back that included BBC London rather than the frontage), although whether the economy has put the kybosh on that I don't know.

BH
I heard rumblings about it being parked on the canteen roof somehow...
But the canteen is under the car park so it's not as daft as it sounds. There was some concern about the undercroft not being strong enough though, so the GLR kit is in the other car park.
The closedown of BH for Integrated Systems Testing (IST) kicks off at the end of this month (COB 29th IIIRC). Arabic TV to N9, Persian TV to BU using a combination of the 7th floor studio area and Business Lounge (was formally the New Media studio area), GLR coming to BU in the old I&A area opposite the bar, Radio 3 production to BU location unknown (playout remains in W1), Radio 4 non-news production to BU location unknown (R4 news to Wood Norton). No idea where London TV is going, Millbank sounds plausable.
It is going to stressful for all of us involved in IST over the coming couple of months, but it will be nice to see some life coming back into Bush for a change. Sometimes it feels as though we are just managing the decline of the place until we start moving things to W1 next year.

GLR!?
That's what I've heard, although there was originally a plan to relocate it to one of the smaller studios at TV Centre
