Can Cross Channel tell us about Dan Lobb's future?

He is staying.

yeah surely as they already have done, there'll want to make a big deal of the presenters. God for how much ITV are paying - I'd want their faces plastered all over the place. Laughing

They should make a lot of fuss out of their new presenters (even though their names probably don't that big a clout) but to build the titles around them like the Ann and Nick example would be a mistake. If it was called 'Adrian and Christine' then yes but not 'Daybreak'.

There are practical reasons of course, they won't be there 5 mornings a week, 52 weeks a year and who knows, 6 months down the line they might not even be there any more!

It's 'Mr Inspector' to you! Wink Laughing

Dan Lobb, staying? Seriously? And they get rid of Helen. Prosposterous.

I'm looking forward to Grainné Seoige. She is fine! As a Northern Ireland viewer, I have seen her on RTÉ... she's good chatting to people but she was terrible presenting "All-Ireland Talent Show". She did a jig at the start of every show.

My apologies, Mr Inspector Laughing

Cross Channel says Helen's leaving was a mutual decision - perhaps she's moving onto other ITV things, has a new job or didn't particularly want to be at the news desk for the next two+ years.

Cross Channel - will sports be presented (presumably by Mr Lobb) as part of the main show or will he report on sports news/ events/ stories?

P.S. Thanks for all your insider knowledge. I think it's people like you who give TV Forum that little extra sparkle!

I second that! Have Christine and Adrian managed to rekindle that magic?

For a serious news programme, presenters in the titles don't really work. You don't see Huw in the titles for the Ten...

Yeah but it depend on how "newsy" Daybreak will be. I do agree that they shouldn't be in the titles, but can see ITV doing that! Laughing

Yea I've heard quite a few times ( from various papers - yes i know! Rolling Eyes ) that Christine and Adrian may only stay a year. So I get your point. I wasn't saying that they should have titles like This Morning, just that This Morning have a few different versions ( Phil & Holly, Eammon & Ruth and a plain one for other stand in presenters) so it logistically wouldn't be that hard to make/have a few versions.

I'll have a look see if I can find them!
I'm not saying that their reliable , there only as reliable as anything else you read in the papers. But I've read it in at least two papers/online articles and they both said something along the lines of " an insider said that 'the current plan is to have Christine and Adrian launch the show and then after a year or so, let them go on to do Primetime stuff." I think it might have been in some of the articles to do with Christine possibly taking over X Factor next year.

Like I said I'll have a look for the links. But for much more reliable info - Do any of the GMTV/Daybreak insiders know if this is true? Cross Channel?

Agreed, wouldn't put it past them, and of course if you're gonna pay astronomical amounts of money for talent, you're gonna want to milk their 'brands' for all they're worth.

Daybreak's website must be soon due for another update with 4 weeks before launch. I bet it will be nothing compared to GMTV's because it will be under the same format as the news or This Morning, basic. Although I found GMTV's website messy, it had lots of things on there plenty of pages.

I would hope it mirrors This Mornings.

Well I don't want another website going down the blog route. I'd prefer a page of the news & sport they are covering, plus sufficient weather information (something GMTV lacked a few years back, not now)
