This thread is a bit pointless. Why couldn't we just continue on the GMTV thread until the first day of transmissions? That way everything to do with the first day will be on a new thread actually about a programme that is on the air, not about 30 pages on, on a thread that is full of speculation and the occasional press release.

Because some of us are interested in the launch of Daybreak but not particularly interested in the dyeing days of GMTV - frankly the threads should have been split weeks ago. A new thread for Daybreak when it begins to air can still happen too.

I hope Dan Lobb stays - He is quite good. Wink

No mention of a political editor, not that GMTV have one. Is Sue Jameson still with GMTV, should is usually the person who does political news for them in the past.

She is . She will be interviewing David Cameron in Washington for tomorrows GMTV.

This is wasteful having TWO THREADS trying to discuss the same information.

Why aren't the Mods merging these until Daybreak launches?

Grainne Seoige joining GMTV, sorry, Daybreak, according to RTÉ's new entertainment site. She previously worked for, well, everyone on this side of the water: started at TG4, then TV3, then Sky News Ireland, being main newsreader for all of them. Her stint at Sky News Ireland included a short stint covering overnights on Sky News itself in London. After that folded, she went to RTÉ but apparently the RTÉ News bosses were seriously against her reading the news at the station (they don't like blow-ins in those there parts) and she ended up presenting a daytime show with her sister.

Anyway here's the link - warning, seriously garish colour alert...

Can't win this one, some think it makes sense others seem to want the single thread. Whilst I don't particularly feel another thread needed to be created, after 408 GMTV pages I don't think it's a major problem to start a new thread specifically for Daybreak. It'll allow the GMTV one to go back to being for general day-to-day talk (which I imagine will get quieter and quieter).

Cheers, Asa

Are you man or mouse, Mr Hicks? Wink

The GMTV to Daybreak change is just another revamp/rename, albeit quite a major one.

Past convention on TVF has been to retain all discussion and speculation in a single thread, with a new one opened on the launch day (by a Mod) and the previous one locked and archived.

Sorry to double post but I found some Daybreak news on the GMTV website. Do they not realize there is a Daybreak site now: http://www.gm.tv/presenters/51622-daybreaking-news.html should be at http://www.itv.com/daybreak Sad

No sorry - I didn't realise there was now a Daybreak site! I wondered why it was all quiet there about today's announcement - that's because you're all here! Lol

that sounds alright, I hope it gives it a bit hard hiting mix to the programme

This was a rubbish announcement today though, I mean what about the current reporters - are they still staying? What about Helen fospero, is she still going to be a newsreader? Obviously they are teasing us.

p.s. - these two threads are really confusing as I am talking about whether current GMTV reporters are moving to Daybreak. Should that be in the GMTV thread (as they are currently GMTV reporters) or this one?!

Totally agree. So there will be yet another new Daybreak thread when it launches, leaving this thread redundant. Stupid. For a forum about continuity there seems to be none on here anymore!

At first I thought it made sense to have two threads. Now I just find it confusing and messy. I think one thread is sufficient until GMTV ceases broadcasting.
