RE: South East Today
That was a bit different, wasn't it?
For those that didn't see it, we had new music and Rob and Polly both started the show before the titles in front of the screen (Polly standing and Rob perched on the desk).
It's a shame the new style South East Today started off with a non-news story about sun beds which cut back to the studio too soon and then continued with a live OB with poor sound. Even so, its nice to see a refresh every now and again.

Well i'm not sure what to make of it, having just watched the lunchtime bulletin online, the faster pace to the music is welcome, but its very washed out sounding compared to what the regions launched with last year, also in some ways similar to the new Inside Out theme.
This also signals the end of the unified look in the English regions merely 18 months after the relaunch

Still looks the same, so its still unified. I actually think just changing the music is quite clever, gives the whole programme a different feel while still looking like the rest of BBC News.

Ah but London and Look North Newcastle launched with the other variation of the current theme (the 99 style remix) and were then told to scrap it and conform with the rest of the regions, so its an end to every region being exactly the same musically.

I really think the programme is now a very poor affair. Rob has that constant Cheshire cat grin on his face which says 'look at me...the cat that got the cream' And is it my imagination or has Polly had Botox?
If anyone should have taken the reins they should have offered the job to Glenn Thomsett, ex-Meridian and Sky News and a far more credible presenter. He's known far and wide in the region having broadcast on both tv and radio since the launch of Invicta Radio (now Heart FM) way back in 1984!

I saw a really cheesy promo for South East Today the other night... like rubbing Geoff and Bev's faces in it.
