Bit of a weird thing on Meridain Tonight this evening. Simon doing a report but Martyn doing the weather. Maybe perky Parkins report was filmed earlier this week
Flicked it on for a few minutes tonight and its just unbelievable! Paul Belvers and Amanda Piper - she is truly awful. All the true professionals have now gone. Alas its good to have Wes on the radio.
The news stories aren't really news anymore either. I mean, you get the Top Stories then it's this "An 80 year old man from Hastings has found a piece of cardboard outside his backdoor" type stories that are getting on my tits! The odd "fluffy" and lighthearted stories are ok, during the final minutes of the bulletin but when half the programme is taken up by nonsense like this, it really is pointless.
The other day in my local town a pensioner was hit by a car and the main road was closed for about 4 hours causing tailbacks...was it even mentioned? no. Not on SET either. Meridian, as usual, were concentrating on news further afield anyway.
Either provide a better regional news service or don't bother at all. It really is the pits now.
I don't know when Georgie Palmer's going on maternity leave but we had Sara Thornton (Recently on BBC NE & Cumbria and former Anglia) on South Today tonight.
So Debbie Thrower is now on BBC Radio Solent I noticed, wonder if anyone has rung in to moan about the Meridian 'split' though probably this would be 'off limits' !
... and Wes is standing in on Radio Oxford's breakfast programme this week!
As he was last week too! Jerome Sale presenting BBC Oxford News yesterday got me thinking again - why isnt Wesley doing this yet?! He would be far better than Jerome and would inject new life into it! Very frustrating.
Quiet one as Bev bowed out of the show after "being with the BBC for 23 years" at the end of last night's main edition. Didn't catch tonights but I guess tomorrow is Geoff's last day.
