I've always thought the set looks nicer, brighter and bigger from that angle, it looks really good. It's going to be a shame once they vacate to N6. It will be interesting to see what BBC World do with the space though.
Hopefully they will get rid of the "three sets in a row" arrangement that has always compromised the camera angles on guests and presenters looking at the projector screens on the main set. Hopefully they will also replace the projectors with either Barco cubes (though they'd need to replace their cameras for these to work) or plasmas.
The current set looks better than previous ones on wide shots (apart from the overhead camera that is soft, overused, and very noisy when tracking) but some of the main guest shots are noticably worse than the previous sets. (Which were two sets opposite each other)
The background treatment for the current set is much better - with the design of the newsroom areas integrated well with that of the set.
However the projectors are still poor (projecting through daylight is never going to work well - basic physics) - large plasmas would be better. I was surprised they stuck with the image in the projector behind the guest shot (it looks so much better on breakfast when they put a generic infill behind them) - as you only ever see a small chunk of the image that usually makes no sense.
