NEWS24 has been taken on by mobile phone network 3, and is strreaming through 'planet 3' on it's phones. This just happened this week along with BBC1 and BBC3. (ITV1 has been there for ages).

Maybe the BBC was keen to get News 24 available online on bbc.co.uk/news before allowing other outlets to stream their content.

Very low key though. Just an icon in the top bar, where they usually announce streaming of radio programmes and the 1/6/10. Nothing elsewhere on the site, no press releases.

Sounds quite sensible. I guess they want to make sure it all works before publicising it. There's nothing worse than making a big song and dance about a new online service only to find it doesn't work on the launch day...

Mentioning no names (<cough> Sky News' new website). Wink

Looks like they're keeping the News 24 stream link there permanently now, moving other live streams to the right...

It was promoted at the end of the One, and there is now this large graphic on the Video and Audio page - don't know if it was there before, though:

BBC News 24 is, from today, streamed live on the BBC News website permanently.

Viewers are now able to watch the latest breaking news streamed online to their computers by simply clicking on the "Watch Live" links found on the BBC News website front page, as well as in the body of relevant website stories.

Head of BBC News Interactive, Pete Clifton says: "Streaming BBC News 24 enhances our commitment to providing news on-demand, allowing people to consume news in the time and format of their choosing whether it's live video streaming, reading an online text story or via Ceefax."

Interesting coverage today at 5, anchors in Belfast (Huw), N8 / London (Emily) and Portugal (Jane). I can really see this becoming the norm.

Glad to see N24 taking the restoration of devolution seriously and giving this major story the exposure it deserves, even if some of the reporting is verging on the featherweight.

BBC One, BBC Three & BBC News 24 launched on H3G on 1st May. They all cost 49p for 24hr's access to all three. There pretty good quality as well. Much better than i thought they would be. Only down side is they drain the phones battery like you would not believe.
