I was expecting much less of a dramatic change than this, based on the hints dropped over thealast 2 weeks... is anyone else as surprised? But I'm not complaining, so far it's awfully nice!
Glad they're not afraid to pee off the minority of viewers stuck in 4:3 mode who are missing the clock. £5 says the majority of those emailing in actually have widescreen televisions
I agree - its good that they're loosening up on being so strictly 4:3 safe. Is it 14:9 safe for the overnight simulcasts on BBC1 do you think? The clock isn't vital so it makes sense to fill up that space rather than leave it blank.
Yes they have - odd how there hasn't been more posts yet. The titles consist of several shots of a new red shiny globe spinning, before changing to a long shot of the logo slowly forming, similar to the nationals. Personally I think the second half lets it down, as the pace of the spinning is lost it's a bit of an anticlimax. That's not to say it isn't an improvement, it's visually much more impressive. Probably judging it too early based on one viewing anyhow.
Have the titles been refreshed as well, not near a TV at the mo so cant see, but if anyone has a screen grab or even a recording of it.
Yup, and they are growing on me. I would have liked more white ribbons and lines around it, but get rid of the white flashes with the logo at the end, and also get rid of the logo and number 24 zooming in.
I wonder if the national titles (if they change) will still have their purple in it, and the nice transition into the studio.
I don't expect the nationals to change, they've not been around that long yet have they? If anything it's N24's titles that have been brought in to line to match, not the other way around.
I hope its white with red text but then again that would be

Sky News - and since it already is strikingly similar, it might be better if it weren't.
