I agree - tonight's Corrie was possibly one of the best, if not
the
best I've ever seen. It well and truely had me gripped - it was that good, you felt as if you were there. That shows excellent script writing. BTW, who wrote tonight's episode? Did anyone catch the name at the start?
Ace episode. Shame it clashes with Comic Relief on Friday. I think they should have had a double episode tonight at 7.30/8.30, and moved the Bill to Friday instead. And if anyone other than Richard dies, I imagine they'll have a few weeks in Weatherfield General first.
It's downhill from here on in for Corrie. I'd have kept Richard on the run for at least a further month. It wouldn't surprise if no body is found, so he can be deemed dead or alive, and come back in the future.
Also, re: double episodes. They seem to be in place now, and I think the BBC like them aswell, as EastEnders Monday night ratings do seem to benefit from the Corrie sandwich.
Anybody else notice that baby Bethany had disappeared when you saw them underwater? Presumably Granada didn't want to risk a toddler drowning!
Other than that - probably the most gripping episode I've ever seen of Corrie... and I've been watching for the last 25 years or so. Even beats the 'Alan Bradley being run over by a tram' episode!
My physics isn't great, but AFAIK, if all the windows on the car were shut, the water wouldn't have filled up in the car that quickly - the pressure is different on either side, which is why just opening the door is not an option if your car does fall into water - at least until the pressure has equalised.
Also Gail seemed to be doing breast-stroke, but weren't her hands tied up?
You didn't really see much of Sarah and David either - although I suppose they used stunt doubles for that scene - I don't know about Sarah as I know that Tina O' Brien is over 16 and Equity require certain measures in place for under-16s normally (certainly in the theatrical shows I've acted in that's the case) however, the kid who plays her younger brother would have defininetly needed a double.
If Bethany was in that shot, it would have had to have been a doll - though of course, the cover of
Nevermind
, the Nirvana album, used a real live baby, didn't it?
Yes I did notice the new Kitchen > Garage door which has never been seen before!
If you consider that the door actually moved 90 degrees then it does all fit into place. The door should have been on the back wall of the Kitchen not the side wall!
Anyway, more of concern is how the Rovers back room manages to be located in the middle of Rosamond Street and how people go to the toilet in Ken Barlow's kitchen!!
