Slightly off topic, anyone see HIGNFY tonight?

One of the 'Odd One Out', featured 3 pics of dogs & Natasha Kaplinsky.

I assumed the answer was Tin-Tin's dog.

That one was a cartoon and the other three were real dogs.

There's a female columnist in the Daily mail on a Saturday that calls NK Natasha "Spangles" Kapinsky. It sort of fits well.

Razz

I'm intrigued enough to watch the repeat to find out the answer now .

That chap hosting last night , talk about an Angus Deayton clone. I thought he was very similar in his manner and delivery to AD.

Alexander Armstrong.

The (too few) weeks that he's on are about the only ones I now bother to watch.

The format always suited Angus and, therefore, always suits anyone with a similar style to his.

[quote="NerdBoy"]Agree with Jack. There's no point to them standing, it just looks very contrived. [quote]

I feel that somebody sitting down reading the news straight into the camera seems more authoritative; rather than somebody standing up 'looking down' on the viewer.

The presenter standing up is sometimes justified if explaining something using a graphics screen. However, standing up all the time and walking around can't be much fun for the newsreaders?! Always makes me think of Melanie Bellamy on Broken News . Laughing

I also feel the standing, walking, perching, leaning etc is silly and detracts from the content being delivered.

Of course the thing is, broadcasters know that news is usually quite boring, but rather than accept that, they feel the compulsion (or are compelled by higher up) to tart things up in the attempt to maintain or raise ratings.

Yes, especially the male presenters. There's a time and place for men to be fully erect.

Agree fully. Have always hated this "standing up" news delivery. The only channel that appears to have avoided it completely and at all costs, is the uber-professional and pioneer in the 24-hours news business - CNN.

Apart from the absolutely dreadful "Situation Room."
