Does anyone know if the studio is being refitted this weekend? The weekend bulletins have come from a strange temporary area (grey sofa in front of a brick wall with some TVs on). The Politics Show at lunchtime was from the usual studio, but the lack of Sunday papers suggested that it could have been prerecorded...
Airbrusing is complete: The Points West website has changed (sorry if you think this is in the wrong forum, but it's still about Susan) they've removed Susan from the brochure page and from the presenter line up. But interestingly or oddly, depending on your view, Sally (who was taken off presenting and is now in New Zealand/Australia) and Saima (who is working for Watchdog) still appear. Wonder why?
This is interesting, but I suggest that it is not airbrushing. Because Ms Osman has left Points West, it is hardly surprising that reference to her has been removed. This is not sinister. My enquiry is about the N24 website. I am curious to know from all those "deep throats" out there (and there seem to be people with truly profound knowledge, up to and including information on Susan Osman's offspring) the reason for the omission of Susan Osman from the list of N24 presenters. An oversight? A slight? Is Susan Osman off the air for ever? Has she left Bristol? Is she working on her screenplays? If anyone knows, do tell.
I don't think Susan will ever have appeared on the N24 presenter website - she wasn't a full-time N24 presenter, she did one day a week semi-regularly on the overnight joint service for a while, as a freelance presenter.
In the same way that Jake Lynch and Karen Giannone (sp?) don't get presenter entries, Susan didn't. The main overnight presenters are Alistair Yates and Debra MacKenzie, and they do.
By the way - if we're going to talk about the changes, is there any chance the mods can edit the thread title please? Will alert this message so they can see.
Well, the research I've seen this year suggests that Audience appreciation scores of BBC Points West are down by over 18% on the same panel as last year, and 25% against the 2002/3 (different panel)
The BBC use similar research, as it reflects a better picture than ratings...as its dependent on performance of the 'Product' rather than the competition. And the beeb do love their 'Value' research.
No doubt the TWO Managing Press Release Sifters, sorry Editors, have pointed to the on screen look not going down well in the market , on screen talent, staff turnover etc to blame for the dramatic downturn.
Of course, It can't be the dire news values, production values and lack of distinctive agenda...that blame would end up at....em...The Editors.
And, as befiting any new labour state broadcaster, the more senior manager might be going along with the charade to protect their own backs?
So will a Desk, and a 'Big' name cure the rot? Should we expect both soon? or maybe a former local TV personality, now hovering at the radio Bristol end of the newsroom...

Appreciation scores for news shows , thats something never mentioned on here.
What about the viewers ratings ? Anybody got any stats on the PW performance over recent years. I'd like to know how they fare against ITV and their neighbouring BBC regions news programmes.
