And as for ITV West News being better then Points West, if you prefer two robots with no emotion reading your news as if they are reading out of the Beano well you are welcome to ITV West news.

Well yes indeed -- and somehow they managed to get the RTS thingyo a couple of months ago too.

Points West is now inconsistant and directionless. Needs a new Editor (just ONE..) perhaps?

You are absolutely right...
Two editors in a job share just doesn't work...
The newsroom is like a morgue... with 2 gargoyles in charge.
Morale is rock bottom. They don't even have a news editor.
Bristol used to be the pioneering, ground-breaking regional leader for the BBC in England...
Maybe Susan's departure will bring a few more changes...
Jesus she's been there ages. Wont be the same without her.

ahh, someone got the real point.

Yes BBC West WAS one of the best. Warm Presentation, good use of County reportes (always a little clifton-set biased news agenda, but hey)

Now the news is SO bad; We've had local cllr's apearing as members of the public to support a press release from a 'public' perspective.

I was so tempted after that to complain the BBC regions. And I never can normally be bothered.

Press Officers from some of the major bodies (police etc) in the area have been publicly musing how odd it is that they never get probed about the stuff they churn out....PW just rewrite and ask the questions to fit what they already have the answers for.

Newsroom stuffed full of dull little white girls and boys (but not many of the later...why?) It's like a cotswold pony club at times..raah.

Its something about BBC Bristol... Radio Bristols said to be a nightmare to work with the Managing Ed, Now TV news has gone the same way. Of course, if the muppets in charge were moved out, sideways or into a job in keping with their talents; the beeb would have a 'discrimination' case on its hands. Shame they did not 'Discriminate' on talent to start with.

Poor susan, no wonder she's gone. I give Chris a year.

Thursday the tenth is a very odd day to finish in broadcasting circles.

The only people who normally finish mid-week and not at the end of a month are people who are retiring, who finish the day before their birthday.

One is tempted to wonder about the background reasons and the urgency.

Susan does (did) not work Fridays. And the BBC West contract stops/starts in early February.

Sky News might be a possibility? (IMO she should be made a national news reader, for BBC)

So Amanda will only take up the role on a temporary basis while someone else is found. Doesn't say what Susan is going to be doing from now on bar that she will continue presenting on News 24 so maybe were see her on there more often?

well i think News 24 is a better thing to go to then another region or even Sky News. People who worked with the BBC so long, have a thing about having that BBC Style with them, so she wouldnt go too well on Sky News. But News 24 on the right time slot will be excellent!

Sherrie Euegine would be a great replacement. She's still very popular here in the West.
