Not sure where else to post this so opted to plonk it in here!

It's great to hear all regional commercial radio stations joining up for such a great cause.

It's been 'interesting' to hear numerous tv news presenters present the news throughout the day. John Suchet and Jon Snow were on earlier. I enjoyed ITV's Chris Rogers pronounciation of Ricky Gervais! Also ITV's Nicholas Owen mentioned on the Lunchtime News that he will also be presenting later this afternoon.

Chris Evans also appeared on the ITV Lunchtime News, probably his first appearance for a while, which Nic did mention, but Chris swiftly moved on..........

Amazingly lunch with George Michael is currently over £2 million

I was pleasantly surprised by Chris Evans this morning. He used to annoy the hell out of me on Radio 1, but I thought he sounded quite good today - especially considering he hadn't done a radio show in three years.

What an amazing day for radio...just when you think that it's going down the pan, we're surprised with this amazing event.

Chris Evans, Simon Bates and Mark Goodier have all proved themselves that they can do absolutely excellent mainstream radio. I've also thought all the guests (including Jade!!!) were fantastic and have really added to it.

Best hour though had to be 1100-1200 with Simon Bates, Ricky Gervais and Frank Skinner. It has made for some really entertaining radio and certainly makes you sit back and think that the power of radio is still with us.

I suppose we can only be thankful so many DJ and celebs have agreed to take time out to contribute to what is an excellent cause.

And one thing I was worried about, many of the DJs would use it as a place to air their ego of having 25 million listeners and being back on national radio in the mainstream, but I have found everyone to completely humble and devoted to the cause.

I know this isn't a radio forum, but I had to post it.

Well done to all!

I've heard that it's 6pm, which is odd, as they may have gained more money during the evening.

I believe that the £2 million is just from today's donations.
It's great to have such an event like this, I wonder why they've done it on a monday though.

I love how the British do telethons/fundraisers, we tend to go at them with the premise of having fun and entertaining to raise money, whereas in America as far as TV goes judging by the 9/11 and the Tsunami fundraisers, it seems to be celebs begging for people to give money, more celebs on the phone and then somebody performing.
To me I'd much prefer to see Terry & Gaby walk around with the cast of Corrie doing Oliver anyday.

Each to their own.

I hate telethons of any kind...great causes but they make for terrible tv. From what i've heard of "Radio Aid" that's eaqually as bad.

Did every commercial radio station take part or were they some that didn't?
