Personally, I know ITV1 can make good christmas idents. All it was, or should I say is, is just stars flying around the ITV1 logo. I meen, how crap can you get?

I think you mean can't make instead of can make - you are correct with the 'was' as opposed to the 'is' - it was last years ident - I doubt it will be re-used this year.
I thought we all liked last years festive offering from ITV1?
As for 'I meen, how crap can you get?' the answer is simple..... poor English and carp spelling

Maybe it's a bit of memory loss on Flextech's part as the stars flying over the ITV1 logo was from 2 years ago, last year it was snowflakes doing the flying over the logo, but the graphic ident (which people here like to call a generic ident, even though it isn't really) was very good indeed.
Well from this last 2 years or so of Celeb idents, I think they have been not too bad. For a start, what is ITV all about? Its all about those folk in the idents providing Drama, comedy, news and god knows what else.
The music has been not too bad....apart from the Chris Tarrent and Cilla ones from 2002....that lame music was c**p.
One of the lowest points for me was on day one of the celeb, when at 6pm we had a ITV Granada ident with two idents from the bill staring at us, with blank faces while we were beng told in the very annoying, pre recorded voice - 'This is Granada on ITV1, with tonights...Granada reports'.
Oh and for the record, the Tracey Shaw Idents were without a doubt the worst ones!
One sad thing about the Celebs going, is that the current Next caption thing is quite good, hope ITV1 continue with a 'next' thing instead of just silly end cap promos, with credits going side to side (95% going to the wrong side!).
At the end of the day, In my view, Carlton always better presentational stuff (idents, next captions) while Granada do better programmes.
Got a feeling this next set will be very 'American'.

mmmmm me too! Not long to wait now though - I am sure the discussion thread on new idents will keep us going until Christmas.
Oook, so people keep saying the new look will be very American, but not having seen a lot of US presentation, can somebody explain what this means (other than saying it's trashy).
What separates traditional UK presentation from that in the US ? Explain, anyone ?

AFAIK, continuity announcements along the line of "Now on ABC, it's America's Funniest Home Videos..." are pretty much non existant. There's a heavy reliance on graphics to link programming rather than an announcer.

Thats true, ABC sometimes (during network programs) there is a voiceover at the credits saying I.E. " Now time for another steamy episode of Desparate Housewifes only on ABC" There is no ident.
