Andrew Neil’s GB News show

GB News doesn't want to rush into a launch, without ensuring all their anchors are hired, programme formats are tried and tested and that they have all the production resources fired up and running.

They know if they rush a launch, and their production is not up to standard, they will be hammered in the press, reviews and in the ratings. Remember the original Good Morning Britain on TV-am, rushed to launch on air on February 1st 1983 which caused so much headaches and troubles for them, as they were not ready, as they had originally planned to launch in June 1983, but rushed on air as soon as the BBC announced their Breakfast Time programme would start on January 17th 1983.

Does anybody know where the studios are? I've seen nothing in the technical press about the installation, and heard nothing on the SI grapevine. All of which leads me to believe it could just be a hotch-potch of recorded features, and opinion pieces, played out on a three hour loop from a building in Feltham?

(Wasn't sure whether to create a new topic due to previous issues as well as the forum closing soon, there have been several announcements in terms of staff - all of which are on the GB News Twitter).

If they are only just announcing the studio location, maybe it's still a while off launching?

Ok, well, you don't go building a live news channel without a lot of kit, a lot of design, a lot of civil engineering, and a lot of deals with equipment vendors. The lack of any industry noise is odd. I can remember both Sky and BBC News 24 builds, there was a lot of industry activity

I'd love for GBNews to have a main studio similar to that of Sky's old Studio A. A Bruce Hammal-esque voiceover wouldn't hurt either

Is this the GB News set or somebody else’s...it was shown on a discussion forum about GB news

There's an article on the Express website which states Andrew Neil has confirmed GB News will launch this month.

I guess it depends on whether it is a news channel with news gathering operations, or just a news talk channel, buyng in any news coverage.

That seems to be a generic green screen set, it’s been featured in another discussion on this site due to similarity of the London 2012 BBC Sport studio design.

I would think it would be very unlikely to be something GB News will use, as you’d expect them to have something real but at least custom to built for them.

I’m not sure why this is in the Sky News thread though! Well I do know why.

That set is a generic 'news studio' from an image library (can't remember which but I think Getty or Alamy), so I'm not even sure that it could be used as a virtual set.

As you say, it is a complete rip off of the BBC Sport Olympics studio.
