Also worth a note - a very special thanks to all those members with backgrounds, current of former, in broadcasting who have contributed to this forum. The Noggins, the thegeeks, the MediaBoys... there have been too many for me to list everyone. But your contributions have consistently been golden, and taught me and others so much about the industry, technical considerations and more. So a special shout out to you guys.

Speaking of rotas, whilst I agree it was getting a bit silly of the constant talk of why Jane Hill did 4-6 last Thursday instead of the One and Reeta did the early, maybe Jane was late after taking her dog for a walk?, I find it a little sad that no one dared even mention it in the end. If Huw did the One for a month I doubt it would have even get mentioned anymore. Even back in 2001 threads were created wondering if Fiona Bruce had started her maternity leave as Sian Williams was doing the 6, by the same people who now criticise such things! Hopefully the new site will get the balance right.

This is peak TV Forum 😂
Seem to have noticed this thread's gone unpinned. Significance?

Thanks to Asa for running this forum over the years. It'll be missed. Who knows, maybe the database can be exported to a vanilla forum site that doesn't require Asa's programming skills. No idea. A good plan to archive all the content as read-only, though.
As someone who works in the industry, it's always interesting seeing my workplace discussed on here. As others have commented, there are times that you want to reply and correct someone, but at the same time aware that we're not meant to post about operational stuff from work online. A lot of us here will be in that position. It's been fun speculating who certain posters might be, and if I know them from elsewhere. Have exchanged PMs with folks from a previous workplace, who posted stuff that only an insider would know/remember.
Hoping that someone can create a new forum, going forward.

What such devastating news, but such heartfelt messages with beautiful memories.
It’s taken me a while to create this message as I’m heartbroken, however, I completely understand Asa’s point of view, I naïvely had no idea how much work it would take to keep the forum running, and in hindsight I wish I’d offered my help or support (in whatever way I could).
According to my profile I joined this forum in January 2003, which I believe is just ahead of the BBC Three launch. I remember that I was scowering the internet for news on some
Branding topic and came across some posts from here, when I saw the site my eyes lit up with the amazing conversations taking place, I’d never experienced anything like it and I was glad to see that people shared my love of tv presentation and branding... I joined immediately.
18 years later, this site has been a lifeline, a reliability, and my longest relationship by a long stretch! It has been my port of call on a daily basis (except for days when I’ve been out of the country, back when the data cost an arm and a leg; though it meant a mega catch up on my return).
It is my home page on my computer and the only tab permanently open on my phone browser. It has helped me through a lot of low stages through my life, through break ups, redundancies and parental death, it has given me an escape from what has been happening and allowed me to submerge myself in all matter of conversations. There is no better online experience for me, especially on a day of a main channel rebrand, the atmosphere and conversation in this place is amazing.
Thank you personally to all of you for conversing with me on various matters over the years from CITV to my attempts at mocks, the community feel in here is second to none. Thank you to all of the moderators over the years who have kept this a safe place with the focus firmly on the matter of branding and presentation, but most of all my personal thanks to Asa for creating this online presentational equivalent to Byker Grove! I fully support your reasons for closing it, at the end of the day, you come first... and that also applies to everyone on here, make sure you take time for you, and reach out and speak out whenever you need to.
Thank you everyone, look after yourselves and look forward (maybe one day) to the end of oneness!

When I first read this thread I felt really sad.
Like almost everybody here, I check this forum every day and I've been here since the beginning under various usernames, first finding the forum when it was an offshoot from TV Home (and reading the old notbbc forums before that)- it's something which has, to my memory almost always been around.
I don't post as much any more, not because my interest in pres has wained, it's just that telly is now a lot more boring than it used to be.
I don't think anybody can understate the time and investment needed in running a site like this from your own pocket and I can understand how doing do, once you've got house / children / complicated job etc that it would become a chore - I thank everybody involved in the running of tvf and it is a shame that you feel that it can't be continued.
Whilst it may run on bespoke code, I think there would be enough interest in keeping it running in the medium term with a view to migrate it to an off the shelf or open source product long term - that would be something I would be able to be some assistance with, if there was a change in course.
I must say, I have noticed the opinions of a few becoming much more polarised and intolerant of others and some of the interactions haven't been pleasant, which is a pity - but actually, this is still a lovely little corner of the internet- one thing life has taught me that is there really is no shortage of nutters and oddballs and this forum has certainly had its fair share - but along the way there are some really great people here and I hope this community can continue.
I wish Rob the best of luck with continuing with the forum.
Thank you Asa and the mods.

A wonderful site. Always entertaining, never dull.
I've been regularly posting and reading the comments for the best part of 14 years now. Hard to believe that the end is near for TV Forum now.
Thanks to Asa and the admin team for doing a truly amazing job for the last 20 years.
You will be missed.

New member here and I just to like to say that I've been a frequent visitor but never a member until now and I'm sad that this forum is closing down, though I understand why it's happening.
