I thought it was Hancock and Johnson on BBC one and anyone else was only on the news channel.

Wouldn't that indicate then that what Sunak has to say is less important? There probably needs to be some transparency on the matter from within the BBC. I'll hit up 'NewsWatch' and see what I get back.

I guess it is the expectation of what the announcement is, as of course we usually know the bulk of what the briefing will contain before hand. Seems this one will be mainly about policing rather than any change to the law, and possibly news that 300,034 974,000 vaccines have now been issued.

Would be quite hard to change the law when you’ve broken the ministerial code yourself rather recently!

Priti Patel shares one odd characteristic with Beth Rigby. Neither of them seem to pronounce the 'g' at the end of words.

Makin' Losin' bringin' etc

Hmmmm, with all due respect, it could be something personal to each of them. Not necessary for commentary here.

I don’t think it’s a speech impediment if that’s what you’re suggesting.

I haven’t suggested anything, I personally don’t feel it should be discussed on a forum such as this. It just feels a bit personal to me.

Better not mention the pace at which Robert Peston delivers his questions then.

Anyway, back to Coronavirus Coverage. I for one didn’t feel it was at all necessary for the BBC to have thrown the briefing to BBC One today. The question I have remains - how do the BBC gauge whether it’s worthwhile or not?

Yes of course much leaks before any briefing and I’m sure we all agree it’s leaked purposely. BUT - how do the BBC justify when they should or shouldn’t throw it to BBC One?

Re Patel's press conference: it was known by all media that no changes to policy or law were to be announced.
Re Pointless: it already had to be dropped yesterday and possibly will be again later in the week, if there's a more major press conference that needs to take priority.
The major, more 'BBC One worthy' conferences, would usually be the ones hosted by Johnson or Hancock, as they would usually be the ones announcing any new measures, etc.

(Anyway, Pointless may have got them more viewers than Patel would have, if she had been on One!)

Pointless was moved to BBC Two on Monday, so the only thing that would have been dropped was whatever BBC Two were going to show, which may have been the latter part of the snooker or a Flog It repeat. Pointless these days is rarely dropped unless its either Christmas, Wimbledon or occasionally some sport.

The snooker replaced Flog It today then was cut off for Richard Osman in the closing stages of the final frame (although as it still took 10-15 minutes to complete it probably the right call).
