BBC One Christmas idents 2020

And over on the other side, BBC Two have stuck 'Channel of the Year' top middle on theirs, looking awful especially not aligning with the 'Subtitles' tag.

Not bad at all. Definitely prefer the Gruffalo's Child ident thus far. Can't wait to see some variants and news-safe versions.

Well done to BBC One Wales for letting the idents play out without being voiced over from the beginning - network just rushed it by speaking over the entire things.

Agree with AxG - BBC2 have ruined their fantastic idents with that strap line.

Looking good. Well anything is an improvement over Oneness and the Zoom “idents”.

The only thing that spoils the BBC One idents just a little bit is having the logo on screen all the way through. The pedant in me feels it'd be nice for it to form up on the final shot. Other than that, they're quite nice. We've definitely had worse, and it's also a blessing not to see "oneness" pop up on a BBC One ident for a change.

Just checked last years thread to compare how quiet this thread is this year compared to last in the wake of the idents premiering (very quiet is the answer) and realised I had completely forgotten last years ident set.

Ident launch and the junction

Channel of the Year would have worked a lot on the bottom of the screen like Channel 5 does with their Broadcast and RTS Channel of the Year tagline.

Not sure if there needs to be a separate thread but just had it confirmed by Duncan Newmarsh on Twitter that we won't be getting a new BBC2 Christmas ident this year, just the previous four again sadly. Nice as they are, it's still a big shame.

The "One" part does have a subtle form-up at the very start of the ident (snow drifting left to right, as per the trailers), albeit a bit hard to spot in the Zog and the Flying Doctors ident due to the white cloud initially behind the logo.

Guess that means a whole year without a new BBC2 logo then. I'll forgive them if we have a full BBC1 revamp in the New Year.
