Very strange American robotic style warning of flashing images into the midnight broadcast.

This is nicely done though - a bit heavy on the news recap at the beginning but I think overall struck the right tone.

Totally missing the mood of the nation to be harping on about 2020.

The drone display is excellent however.

I kind of just wanted to see the fireworks though, which they kept cutting away from.

Happy new year anyway Smile

I think they should keep the lasers and drone displays for next NYE, they worked really well.

To be honest I think this sort of thing is going to become part of parcel of these displays in the future. They just allow a level customisation that wouldn’t be possible with fireworks.

It actually felt fresher than normal, as having stuff just flying in and out and around the London Eye has become quite samey, so it was nice to see Tower Bridge, Wembley Stadium etc.

It’s now the annual TV Forum event, where everyone sits through the musical act, whether you like them or not, to see what the next junction has in store!

I'm surprised it hasn't been considered as an option sooner given the technology has been around for a while. I know it's been used in places like South Korea and China.

Drones making symbols and text only works from a limited number of angles. Easy for TV and places where those viewing angles can be limited (e.g. in stadiums or at the coast), not so good when your audience surrounds your entire display.
DE88, Jonwo and VMPhil gave kudos

If the BBC can commission that for a ten minute slot at New Year (to be fair, often their highest rated show of the year), then they can commission something that collective over the year airs hundreds, if not thousands, of times.

Alicia Keys is the highest rated programme of 2021. Let that sink in.

It won't be as the display is billed separately from the music

Different locations for the fireworks to annoy the folks still turning up to look at the South Bank by the Wheel!

If this performance goes on forever, then Oneness will never come back!
