I'd love for them to go for an updated 2008-2009 style if they go for a new look next year.
Yes I agree! That was a brilliant theme and set for that period. Although I think they are wanting to keep away from the ‘London centric’ look so it doesn’t alienate viewers all over the UK. (Although everyone knows it’s from London)
I can't see a revamp until relative normality returns - just unnecessary at the moment. And although this package has lasted twice as long as it's predecessors it mainly is a reflection of what else is happening in UK news presentation. Frankly as the BBC isn't updating so frequently ITV don't need to as well.
I was shocked to realise it was 7 years old, even though I immediately knew 2013 to be the correct date from the wider ITV rebrand. Shocked because I would place it more at 3. It still looks fresh, pleasant and with gravitas. My worry is that it's usually when branding is 'tweaked' that it begins to fall apart.
I think that is why it still looks good - it hasn't been tweaked for the sake of tweaking and the News at Ten rebrand very much built on it rather than competed with it.
That said I'm surprised they haven't at least updated the regional titles with fresh images over the last couple of years just to freshen things up slightly.

Granada updated their titles in late 2018, more so to include the Mersey Gateway bridge (that only opened the year before), so they look a little better for a slight refresh. Surely another region has made an amendment or two over the last eight years?
Tyne Tees/Border use the full length titles for both the main bulletins and short ones. They’ve only just today gone back to 2 presenters anchoring the programme.
