Back in the day, I thought Stuart Flinders was being groomed to eventually being main anchor - the amount of main editions he did standing in for either Martin Henfield or Gordon Burns.

He also had that stint presenting on the BBC News Channel, but for whatever reason that stint wasn’t made permanent.

Especially when the regional news programmes all share the sometimes quite stark or cold corporate look of BBC News, having those established ‘local’ faces is really important. I’m not suggesting for a moment younger or newer presenters can’t establish that, but it’s important they do for the format to work.

Surely decisions with Anne & Dom on EMT and Stewart & Susie on LE must be due soon.

I don’t think Channel Islands are affected

Can we refrain from speculating about how may be taking voluntary (or forced) redundancy. Some of those reading these forums work inside the BBC, and are potentially facing losing their jobs. I can't imagine they'd appreciate people speculating over whether they will or should go.

By all means if/when someone publicly announces their departure feel free to comment on it (respectfully).

BBC NWT is getting some backlash on social media for its "Tree of Lives" decorated with red ribbons it says represent Covid-19 victims.
Today is World Aids Day.

The tweet on @BBCNWT was deleted and header images were changed from pictures of the tree back to "hands, face, space" messages.

Unsurprisingly, Radio 5 Live, Radio Manchester and Radio Lancashire have gone into emergency mode. (Thanks to Josh for the heads up)
