I've been quite enjoying the Home of the Year format (which appears to have been bought in from Denmark) - I think largely because it's only half an hour, so it's quite good for dipping into.
Television had largely forgotten the benefit of half hour shows, but I would say they are slowly creeping back into the schedules over the last couple of years.
I guess it all comes down to cost - a one hour show is probably cheaper to produce than 2 half hours, particularly when it’s padded with ‘after the break’ previews and ‘before the break’ recaps! (Not applicable to BBC Scotland) of course.
One thing I’ve just noticed is that 7 Days is now on at 11pm Sunday, though by the fact that the sun is shining, it’s obviously pre-recorded.
Disaster for Great Escapes in the ratings. I would have expected it to build or at least retain an audience but ep.3 managed below 28k whereas ep.2 achieved 61k (source: BARB).
