Also the lack of regional headlines. Must be Christmas 2005 judging by the backdrop which was modified earlier that year.
(In fact looking at Genome, it’s either Thursday 29th or Friday 30th December 2005 to be precise ).
Interesting to see David Dimbleby as a “newscaster” in that 87 clip above. If I recall correctly, he did three nights a week and John Humphrys the other two?
The temporary astons were also very “un-BBC” of the era.
You know, I never knew about the history of the BBC News Channel, and indeed, BBC World News, until about a few months ago, when I stumbled onto Jarrod Factor's Countdowns video on YouTube...
To be honest, I LOVE the BBC News 24 intro music, probably as equally as the 2000-2002 BBC World intro. There's just something so... beautiful, in those soundtracks, and it makes me wish I was born in the late 1980s, very early 1990s, just so I could have my own TV and watch and listen in awe at the intros, as they would have been broadcast... 😊

If you can get YouTube on your TV, you might be able to do that 😊
Was the sport preview (in the below clip) shown on BBC One in all the regions? How odd. It can't be BBC One HD as that wasn't launched until 2010 and this is from 2007.
I think that sport insert aired on News 24 (including the opt) instead of the regional news opts.
This was from the period where Sophie used N8 for the one (and necessitating a simulcast with N24) whilst N6 was being overhauled for Network News.
So, I’m guessing, the regions saw their own regional news headlines whilst News 24 only took that sports opt.
Isn’t the same thing still prevalent now on the Six and the Sportsday segment?
Edit: Rolling News, please ignore me and forgive me. I just realized that clip contained BBC One continuity and, hence your question. Four months without gin is taking its toll on me.......x

Just to be clear, while James is of course correct, the simulcast with News 24 wasn’t exactly coincidental. This was the start of the One coming under News 24’s control as part of cost savings measures, and N6 was unavailable because it was being overhauled as a studio for both network news
and
(what would become known as) the News Channel. The 6 and 10 came from TC7, and the 6 didn’t ever move back to N6.

I know wikipedia isn't the most reliable source, but according to the News at One wiki page, the move until N8 didn't happen until February 2008, so (if correct) this an anamoly in more ways than one. I'm guessing problems in N6 caused this as a one-off, and they just had the sports news instead of a regional opt-out because there wasn't time to change things?
The February 2008 date does twig something with my memory. The date would conincide with Sophie Raworth's maternity leave, and I certainly remember being on half time and being surprised to see not only Kate Silverton presenting the early morning updates (I was expecting Louise Minchin to take over and I had missed the announcement that Kate would be leading the one), as well as the different studio.
