I think you have to remember before the Ingram’s had tried it, no one would have been looking out for it. Clarkson himself said when you’re invested in running the show and the player, he wouldn’t have noticed.

True that nobody would be looking out for it - however the Major's tactic of dancing around every single answer for half an hour, especially at the breakneck speed of the current era, would have been interesting viewing with Clarkson at the helm. I guess that you'd have to come up with a slightly different strategy.

Sometimes I think it misses a bit of the chit chat. That said, I enjoy the speed the show and this are people who really aren’t that interesting.

Yes - tonight for example did feel like we were about to get a million pound winner yet knew virtually nothing about him.

If only he hadn't already used Ask the Host! It was a motoring question, so Jeremy probably knew it. Instead he had phone a friend left, who was useless, so he took the money. Had he gambled, he would've won, as he did guess correctly.

Plus he's filmed over there when he was with Top Gear and also has a house there.

Something in the back of my mind is saying to me when they did the GT Car Challenge on the IoM, he did mention that the TT was the oldest road race.

It’s a shame they don’t get the audience to vote on every question like they used to at one point, I would have been interested to see the spread for the million question

I’m not sure how useful that is. I imagine D would have been the most popular answer as it was the one that stood out. But most of the audience would have have been guessing.

It also makes a mockery of the Ask the Audience process if they’re voting anyway, did we ever get an answer if the audience got a chance to change their vote at this point?

At 3:52 - "Now one of her Phone-A-Friends is actually a guy she's never ever met, she met him on an online quiz chatroom".

Hmm, wonder which chat room that could be...

Phone a friend just now didn't even wait for the options before answering! That doesn't happen often.

Bit harsh having two ‘which is the greatest number’ questions in a row!

Not sure if by chance or design but this series all episodes have been self contained. Don't think they are airing in order either as last night they said £125k was the biggest prize won so far this series but that has aired tonight.

Surprised really they didn't end on £500k last night to have the £1m question as the first of the next episode, allowing them to promote it on the day spoiler free.

Johnr never confirmed last nights show was the ‘significant event’ he witnessed. So something may happen on the final show too.

I think they’re trying to keep the episodes as self-contained as possible so they can play around with the running order, which is also probably why they kept more conversation in tonight as they didn’t have time for a third contestant to complete their run.

It does seem that a teacher is closest they have to an ‘unskilled worker’ appearing as a contestant on this show though. It’s telling that tonight’s first contestant was going to buy a family home in London with his winnings, which suggests he was pretty well off in the first place.

Still so many players for who the money is incidental to doing well at the game and if the money doesn’t matter they may as well be contestants on Mastermind.

I’m sure in Clarkson’s first run you had a load of bubbly down to earth characters, and as a result nobody got very far.

So it’s a fine line to straddle

I agree with that. It would just be nice if they could find that balance. Maybe mixing up the shows so some days you have ‘characters’ in the FFF seats other days you have those that can realistically win the big money.

Surprised they don't balance it out like Tipping Point which every show features two older contestants, and two younger ones including the young attractive female that Ben always seems to give an extra hug or two towards should they get through to the final...
