Looks like we're getting the full length end credits too and not the UK Gold edits.

Or the ones BBC1 showed in daytime in 1995, where they replaced it with the then current credits, albeit scrolling.

I'm out today, so I hope when I get home my adhoc solution to record them has worked.

Watching them now, the recording worked thankfully. A lot of "comet tailing" on the picture in the second episode- presumably down to the fact EE were using tubed cameras that dated back to the earliest days of colour that were otherwise going to be thrown away.

Strange how many of the original cast are no longer with us, but Dr. Legg, who looked ancient even then, is still with us and is going to appear again shortly.
Si-Co, Custard56 and DE88 gave kudos

Hopefully these do as well as the Coronation Street repeats are. Wasn't Eastenders another soap that started on two nights a week in the beginning?

EastEnders was 2 nights a week until 1994.

And was better for it.

There was some editing to remove the word “Paki” from the scene with Nick, Sue and Ali in the café.

I noticed in the second episode, Den was talking about knocking the two bars into one, so that must have happened very early into the show's run, I guess we'll see soon.

I wonder when the corner shop became properly enclosed? I've seen some episodes from 1986 and had been by then, so I guess that happens early on too.

Don't think those words ever go together.

Think I read it took about seven months before the bars were combined,
Not going to watch the old episodes as I won’t have the time once I start back at uni and I know I’ll get hooked.

I have no memory of that, but I take your word for it! Why did they recreate the credits?

Did they stick to the 1985 policy of nicknames on the credits, like Wicksy and Lofty?

(The opposite end of the formality scale to Corrie in 1989 when Reg Holdsworth was "Mr Holdsworth" on the credits).

Because there were new guidelines in the 90s about the maximum length end credits could be. For a 30-minute show, I believe it was 35 seconds max. As the original credits were about 2 minutes long, they had to be re-made.

I’ve just realised that Classic EastEnders will not be on the UKTV Player. This was only announced today. Thankfully I’ve caught the late night encore - but missed the first 15 minutes or so of episode one. This is where I eat my words about it being no big deal for me to not have the channels on Virgin Media...

I watched both episodes on the UKTV Player earlier.
