It's a very constrained site isn't it. Is its basically a like for like replacement, they aren't doing like Corrie did and taking the opportunity to extend the set with new streets we've never seen before?

From what I read they are doing that too, I think they're going to build an expanded set where the old set is once they've moved to the new set. Means it won't all be continuous though, they'll be walking round a corner then moving from one set to another.

They use to do that on Brookside when they went through to the Parade.

True. Though in the case of Brookside, the parade was several miles away from the close.

The new set is built/finished. It will be interesting to see what happens to the backlot now. Will they build more Walford as promised, or sell it off to make funds for other silly out of London ideas - not that EE counts as London being in Borehamwood.

I thought Elstree was technically part of the London quota despite not being in London because of its proximity?

I actually think the BBC should have moved EastEnders out of London (or Elstree).

For a London based show that would be a bit odd.

They actually considered relocating it to Cardiff about 10 years ago.

They also considered moving Doctors from Birmingham to Manchester.

We had the side of one of the buildings at Elstree supposedly being the "Cost Mart" supermarket today, clearly taking tips from Corrie using the side of the studio building as Freshco.
