Is this going to be a decent refresh, or will it be like when a region goes rogue and changes everything to Arial?

"We liked BBC Reith, but we thought for Breakfast we'd go in a more suitable, friendly direction. We're therefore pleased to announce all our graphics will now be produced using a mixture of Curlz and Comic Sans MS!"

I've just had a call from CBeebies, they want their fonts back...

Why what?

Why does the studio need to be gutted and rebuilt?

Apparently in this instance there is no new studio. Do your research, there are plenty of examples of studio rebuilds - they take time. News 24 took weeks for example. Wales Today was done over a weekend. You can’t refit a studio overnight unless it’s at BH.

Here’s one N24 refit. https://youtu.be/ersMPRdaKvw

Well that refurb took just 32 seconds. They should be able to do it during the weather forecast.

Not entirely sure we can deduce that.

The studio currently in use will need to be gutted and rebuilt if Breakfast are staying in there. If rehearsals are underway, which we can assume they are - this could well explain the delay. This is bound to be a ‘new look’ and not a refresh as seen in Wales Today. Chris Cook said himself ‘Fresh start’. By the sounds of it David Lowe is revamping the countdowns too, citing Martine Croxhall’s delight at being included.

Breakfast uses the same studio as North West Tonight, all be it with a lighting change, and different backdrop. Depending on what changes may or may not be coming to the studio set, it could take a weekend, or maybe longer.

AFAIK we have not heard any rumour about changes to the set, so if we assume the physical set is not changing, all they will need to do is swap out the background on the screens, and or change the lighting setup.

They’re moving to TC3.

TC3??? Come on Joe. Good Morning Britain and This Morning are in TC3 for the next five years.

No, Joe is absolutely right. They are indeed moving to TC3. Smile

They're more than happy to share this studio with GMB and This Morning. And ITV are more than happy too. Smile

You could give the show a totally different look just by putting some different graphics on the screens. Maybe add a couple of screens on stands behind the sofa for DTLs rather than the current awkward arrangement.

A few minor changes that wouldn't require any studio downtime could make it look much different.

I personally would like the show to come from a set that looked to be at the same standard as a national set. I have never liked that set, since it was first used for Breakfast.

I don't have an issue with the size of the studio. Just it's height, and the messy lines and angles with all the light boxes, and metal frames and columns etc. The nice thing about the barco screens, is that it reduces the clutter and disjointed elements which make up the set.

Clean lines, and minimalism is my cup of tea.

Now I would presume they thought it would be a good idea to leave the studio as is for a regional news show, and then after, decided to move Breakfast, and so the only space they could use was NWT's studio. BBC Sport needs to be available for BBC World, and the upcoming Olympics no doubt

I guess the challenge of adding DTL screens is the one on the female presenter side might break the eye line to the breakfast desk. The male presenter side will look similar to Cambridge.

Mike is presenting the sport from the BBC Breakfast World Cup hub aka the BBC Sport studio using a screen in BBC Outside Source fashion along with the orange BBC Breakfast graphic.

They could at least have used the World Cup as an excuse to move back there for 6 weeks or so.

Which means the branding is looking rather inconsistent.
