They will eventually move back to the South Bank but it won’t be returning to studio 8, there’ll be a new custom built studio for it in the new ITV offices.

Ah - I hadn't seen that announcement. I knew that there were new studios being built for the other 'studio' shows (GMB, Lorraine, Loose Women) but didn't know that they'd announced This Morning was relocating too.

Though if you look at the plans submitted to the council there's only one actual studio planned - in the basement with some audience seating. The other studio spaces will have to be built in the open plan areas on the office floors.

Presumably they'll assess what studio space is needed when they start to plan the fit out - no point planning studios for their current output when their programmes might well change in the next 5 or 6 years

What date will the last This Morning be from The South Bank and Good Morning Britain too?

Pretty sure there are three studios in the plans last time I looked with the other two sharing a gallery (I think). The other two studios were on higher floors because they don't need an audience.

I couldn't see any when I looked, apart from the basement one. Maybe I just missed the plans for the floor they're on.

They'll be on floor 1: https://planning.lambeth.gov.uk/online-applications/files/E4661DF6990E014E559174A7B71CB564/pdf/17_03986_FUL-HEADQUARTERS_PART_1-1960066.pdf

Studio 1: GMB
Studio 2: This Morning which will still have a view.
Studio 3: Loose Women and Lorraine, the largest and only studio with audience and in the basement.

All the documents are here for anyone interested:

I would assume that ITV will no longer be a tenant Prince's Wharf (they don't own it do they?) when this is eventually all complete because they'll have a huge shiny new office block though this is all guesswork at this point.
Newsroom24, Inspector Sands and Cando gave kudos

I wouldn't be surprised if they turned Studio 8 into a restaurant once This Morning leaves

ITV don’t own Prince’s Wharf where studio 8 is currently located. It is owned by the Coin Street community builders.

None of those buildings are underneath Studio 8, all the buildings in your picture are in Gabriels Wharf. Studio 8 is next door in Prince's Wharf.

As you know, the building with "Gabriel's Wharf" painted on it is Studio 8. The shops may not be directly under it, but my point is you could hardly knock down Studio 8 without the rest of the buildings.

Won't the first floor view be obscured by the trees which currently line the Southbank?

I'm sure you could knock it down. That and the other buildings/hut-style shops are not physically connected to one another.

My earlier point was that it seems unlikely anything will be used there once ITV vacates. The interior areas have been modified hugely to facilitate a television studio, so without significant remodelling, will it just sit there - or will it be redeveloped?

Worth noting that the former This Morning studios at the Albert Dock became (a very nice) restaurant.

Could see the same happening to Studio 8, wouldn't be too hard to find a tenant who could put up the money and given the location and being near things like the National Theatre and The SouthBank Centre, it could make a decent amount of money as a restaurant
