It would also give them an excuse to rename 5Star as 5Tar then. I mean it's been well over a year without a name change for that channel now so it must be due another one surely!

Except it isn't. Spike is an international Viacom brand. 5 is a Viacom brand in the UK.
The channel is part of the five group of channels so should be identified as such
