I know Spike internationally is often a stand-alone Viacom brand, but Viacom as not a front facing company believe the branding obviously not strong enough on its own so have married it up to a brand the uk public know, I.e that of channel 5 - end of discussion but yes 5 Spike sounds clumsy but what else can they do if they wish to tie it to channel 5 - so simply case closed
Still haven't solved the problem of two different services called My5. On trailers they have to specify "My5 Online" or "My5 TV".
Do some platforms *still* call the on-demand/catch-up service by its old "Demand 5" name?
Sky doesn't call it either 'My5' or 'Demand5', simply 'Channel 5' on their catch-up menu. All their other CU services use the name marketed by the broadcaster: ITV Hub, All 4, UKTV Play etc

Same on Virgin Media, simply 'Channel 5' and not My5 or Demand 5, which makes sense as it is only Catch Up content, no Box Sets like on My5 and Demand 5.

My LG Smart TV from 2014 still has the Demand 5 branding, I'm guessing they've discontinued any updates for that model of TV, however my Samsung from 2016 is up to date with My5.

My TalkTalk Youview box still has the Demand 5 branding and the old Channel 5 DOG burnt in even though its running the latest firmware/software.
I think the confusion with it all lies in the fact that the Demand 5 name where it appears uses the old logo. IMO there was nothing wrong with that brand, it suited the purpose of a name that explained the service, I'm not sure that My5 does that especially when there is an on demand app and online service along with a TV channel all with the same name.
I'd just like to see my TV channel 5 demand apps updated so that the old logo doesn't appear, especially over the programmes.

I thought they were replacing the Demand5 branding all together, or at least that was how it was reported last year...
Demand 5 would be fine if they updated the logo and moved in into the corner. As it is it's the old 5 logo and it's too far in from the corner so is very distracting. How Channel 5 have it currently (tucked in the corner and very pale, almost unnoticeable at times) is perfect. I hope they don't change this, even if they update the logo in the coming years.
