So are they just making greater use of Simon or are there reasons why they can't do these forecasts from NBH?

Perhaps some staff tied up or facilities being used for training on the new system?

Isn't it just the case that this week the Breakfast weather presenter (Matt Taylor, as it happens) has been on location so there isn't someone in NBH to do the weather on Victoria Derbyshire unless they bring someone else in. At which point if Simon King is available, albeit in Salford, they might as well use him. If the Breakfast forecasts have been done from NBH - be it Carol or anyone else - then they are in NBH for the later forecasts.

That's true, but usually there would be somebody available in the studio as backup for the OB failing, and to prepare the forecasts etc.

I thought on OB occasions the later forecast were done by the Radio 4 weather presenter.

At weekends the Breakfast and Radio 4 weather shifts are combined I think 5 Live might also be chucked in the mix.

Does anyone know why the Singapore studio in Newsday seems to now always use the catwalk instead of the view outside?

I usually catch the midnight edition and I can't remember the last time the "other side" of the studio was used.

I believe they choose the position based on whether it's light or dark outside. Simple as that I think!

What are those meaningless wide shot moves across the newsroom during the paper review about. As a viewer all I want to see are shots of the reviewers and the presenter, preferably close enough to see their lips moving!

I love the new Sportsday strap above the BBC News Channel ticker. It fits very well with the lower thirds.

It's basically like the Newsday, Outside Source and World News Tonight slug but in the Sportsday font and is yellow/dark grey and slanted.

It's been around for a while.

Didn't they also have one for Newsroom Live at one point too?
