No Christmas idents from ITV , Channel 4 and Channel 5 yet?

ITV have played the Santa Carousel ident before 'The Chase'. I've recorded some continuity and will upload it soon.

What about Sky's Christmas branding?

Sky Cinema Italy from today has this Christmas ident: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYgCrpBDPpU
So I guess it's likely Sky Cinema UK is showing/will be showing the same thing

That's a lovely festive take on the current ident. Sky Cinema Christmas have been using a special one based on the Christmas films that they are showing.

Actually even Sky Italia has a Sky Cinema Christmas (as a replacement for Sky Cinema Hits, often used for "pop up" channels) and something that looks very similar to the UK Sky Cinema Christmas 2016 ident

But the ident I posted earlier is what they use on the other Sky Cinema channels.. I suppose it's similar with Sky Cinema UK now, or it's not?
I doubt this year they're forgetting this

So poor compared to the ironically more cinematic idents Sky Movies had. Just look cheap.

The new Sky Cinema ident(s) may be more on the more simplistic/minimalist side but still they are nice

They remind me of something that you used to see before movies in the cinema.

In the week before Christmas BBC1 is showing movies in the afternoon (with an airing of The Nativity in between them). What is interesting though is that they don't completely fill the 1.45-5.15pm slot so on most days the latter film is being followed by a cartoon, most being spin-off shows from animated films by the looks of it.

It must be years since the BBC did this in the early evening - we're certainly talking pre-Coast. It's something they always used to do when I was growing up, with random 5-10 minute fillers of the likes of Tom & Jerry or Looney Toons both on the BBC and ITV,

According to Genome, the last time BBC One used Tom & Jerry as a filler was on 4th February 2001. It's also had some outings on BBC Two, the last being 8th October 1999. I remember it was regularly shown after Grandstand, Genome says the last time they did this was 27th September 1997.

On a related note, Tom & Jerry Kids was still on air as late as 2005 in the old CBBC on BBC One slot so there was still an element of it on the BBC, albeit not the original cartoon.

It is said that the 1993 bomb scare at TV Centre that cancelled Noel's House Party that week was bridged by Tom & Jerry and a Christmas Presents repeat, though since House Party for that night, according to Genome, was a 55minute programme, Presents was an hour and each T&J cartoon is about 7 minutes long...

Question is did the news go ahead? Did Thats showbusiness? IF presents is 55mins long then it must have started at 17.55, did the news run late, what filled the gap?

17.15: News
17.25: Regional News and Sport
17.35: That's Showbusiness
19.00: Short Circuit This deffo went out on time.

Meanwhile, the Italian counterpart (Sky Uno) has a Christmas ident, as every year,, but nothing to write much about:

I have no info about the Italian Sky Atlantic and Sky Arte though.. I'll check later

It may not be flash, but it's a Christmas ident all the same. I was hoping for something this year following the new set of idents.

As for ITV, I know that there are a wide variety of Christmas Idents for them to use, but for the 4th year is a bit much. Maybe we were spoilt by the years of network producing the different characters that took over the presentation (and idents in some regions), the same could be said for BBC Two where as now we just have to get used to having the same things repeat year on year. I've never thought about it before but for a country who loves repetition at Christmas from family routines, to what shows and films are watching down to adverts reappearing we do want to see a change in our Christmas idents.

That's a very good point.

It comes down to nostalgia I think... the old Coca Cola adverts were classic and they traditionally repeat.m

Idents on the other hand.. used to change every year most of the time.. the expectation is that they will change..

I don't think Christmas idents repeating isn't great beyond 2-3 years

Christmas is an important time of the year to rake in the viewers so your idents should try to stand out in my opinion.
