UTV sell TV business to ITV

Extremely disappointing demise for an award winning programme. It deserved a better send off than that Paul just offered.

Don't think it was his fault. I imagine that ITV don't want to big up the outgoing branding/programmes given the upcoming changes.

Looks like Paul's still presenting the late news as usual. They must be just sticking with whoever presented the 6pm programme.

I'd have thought they'd have made an announcement today if the name is changing from tomorrow/Monday.

I'd agree, though you never know. Certainly no indication on UTV Live at Six that it was the last one before the rebrand.

According to the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire thread there's new ITV Weather graphics for the regions on Monday, so that would seem to be a more logical time for the new UTV News to launch.

Having said that, I'd have expected some sort of trail talking about how the news will be better, but still with familiar faces etc etc

The more surprising thing about that is Julian doing the weather. Long term thing now, or cunning plan to keep him on screen when IVC goes?

If the local ITV Weather graphics are changing, wouldn't the national one also change? They've been synchronised for more than a decade.

No change to UTV idents today anyway.

I'd have thought so. I wonder whether there'll be any more changes on Monday or just UTV fitting in more with ITV branding (or maybe not just yet).

There will probably be new idents on Monday and the trailers will most likely change to a ITV-like style. That's what I think at least.

And no new look for UTV Live.
