Worth bearing in mind that the building where the glass box is (Sky Central) is not the building where the newsroom will eventually end up (Sky Studios - about a brisk three-minute walk and a floor or two away).

Is this the Sky Studios your referring to?

More info.

So essentially they'll be on the same campus but a new building.

Correct!

Also, as I said a while back, there will not be any new on-screen graphics or changes to the straps as they were only brought in last year!

But somebody (On Twitter I believe) said that there would be a new theme tune if I got that right. I think it is rather odd to fulfill such a big move without changing the onscreen appearance. Can´t remember any channel which stayed with the same onscreen graphics after moving to a new studio.

I remember when BBC News channel moved from the old TV centre to NBH. They started using new graphics straight away from the new place. Thought it was pretty cool, it's on YouTube somewhere.

The voice, a nice shot of the studio, great music, all the things that made SN openings THE BEST. It's sad to see what their TOTH has become.

I'd be surprised if they didn't at least have a shot from the atrium at the top of the hour.

Have to admit I'm surprised Jonathan Samuels got the sunrise slot and not Niall or Gamal. I think they would have suited it more with them both covering shifts a lot in the past. Don't think I've seen enough of Jonathan to judge just yet but having seen him recently I can't see why he's been given the job. Time will tell.

Sky need to be careful, they have "lost" many big names in a short space of time. Many people tune in to watch a person as well as the news. Hopefully they are looking to make some more big names. With that and the new studio, it could all go very wrong. Hopefully not.

I'm not sure other than perhaps with Sunrise and the long established Live at 5 whether viewers really do tune in for the talent rather than the news. Do we have any informatin on average ratings for the slots- I know it doesn't help that Sky break everything into 30 minute chunks making it difficult to get a picture of their ratings across a day from information freely available.

Agreed. Main reason I watch sunrise is because of the presenters including Eamonn, Stephen & Gillian. I'll be sad to see Gillian leave the weekend slot on sunrise as I think her and Stephen have brillian chemistry. I'll still watch Sunrise because I think it is the best out of the 3 breakfast shows the UK has for all of its content and guests.

I say the SkyCube studio would looks less like a TescoExtra if they had but the video ticker on the balconies across from the cube rather than on it. It would give the backdrop some visual interest. Instead of looking like the inside of a multistory supermarket.
