Quick question for those in the know (sorry of I've missed this previously).

Will the Millbank set be getting a refresh to match the new on-screen look?

Not for now I wouldn't think. The 2-5 show most weekdays is going to be coming from Millbank for the next four weeks or so, starting tomorrow.

Is the newsroom itself remaining largely at Sky News Centre for now then or is the behind the scenes operation on the whole moving to the location of the glass box?

Everything is going to remain based at Sky News Centre for now, including the newsgathering and the gallery. So everything in the glass box will be directed from Sky News Centre (as it is when we are broadcasting from Millbank).

The afternoon show is coming from Millbank for the next few weeks to allow rehearsals to take place.

Worth bearing in mind that the building where the glass box is (Sky Central) is not the building where the newsroom will eventually end up (Sky Studios - about a brisk three-minute walk and a floor or two away).

The Millbank studio used to look good but with recent updates (oversized tacky desk and those panels hiding the newsroom) it's in dire need of a change.

And will the new newsroom only be used from 9pm to midnight when it does come into operation?

I imagine from 2100 to 0600 on weekdays and possibly more on weekends.

It just feels so cramped... I wish they favoured the right side of the desk for guests rather than the opposite with the gallery backdrop - I find all the monitors behind them distracting Shocked

I understood there was no "new look". I thought they were keeping everything the same style.

Not for now in any meaningful way.

Is this the Sky Studios your referring to?

More info.

From google searches it looks like they'll be on the same campus but a new building.

So essentially they'll be on the same campus but a new building.

Correct!

Also, as I said a while back, there will not be any new on-screen graphics or changes to the straps as they were only brought in last year!
