Lucy Kite back on ITV News Central tonight as a newsreader after leaving Central as a weathergirl last month to make way for Des.

Matt finished by saying he wants his 50p back for her leaving collection. Des gave her a big hug.

Yes she always said she was popping back to cover news duties as and when.

Seem to be getting East Midlands on ITV News Central tonight? I'm watching on Freesat. There seems to be a lot of glitches and black screens so I'm guessing there's technical faults somewhere along the line.

EDIT: Bob mentioned it at the end of the programme. Think everyone had East Mids by the sounds of it.

Did not realise how bad the East Midlands backdrop was. Only ugly rooftops visible, and not the actual square.

The old projection screen gave a much better view of the square.

Yep, it's due to technical problems.

As Bob mentioned the technical problems at the end of the East edition does that mean that the West edition is usually recorded whilst the east is live or does it vary?

I wonder how much a relief newsreading role pays compared to a full-time "weathergirl" position in the world of ITV regional news.

Depends on which region has the most important news stories, if it's on the West, it generally is live. Mostly CNW is live, East is recorded.

Michael Collie on the late shift on Midlands Today tonight. Haven't seen him in the chair for quite a long time!

I bet he's pleased to be drafted in for a shift that's going to push into Midnight due to the Olympic delays.

Especially as he was also on air presenting the Breakfast bulletins this morning! (Well yesterday morning, now)
